SSDI and Food stamps

Hello everyone. I know that applying for food stamps or unemployement does impact the possibility of being approved for SSDI. So I applied first and still awaiting for the results. It's currently being processed through my medical records. Let's say I get approved, will applying for foodstamps after approval affect my SSDI? Will they reduce it or take it away?

SSDI restricts earned income, food stamps is not earned income. Retired pay and VA compensation are not earned income either.

SNAP benefits is based off all income earned and unearned are you collecting food stamps now? Its a complicated system they are quick to deny SNAP benefits claiming you make too much money just make sure you are claiming all your deductions correctly.

I might add food stamps are administered by the states, so there are 50 sets of regulations about food stamps. Food stamps will not effect SSDI, BUT SSDI might effect food stamps. Good catch @oddpedestrian

You are not eligible for unemployment when applying or receiving SSDI. The sole reason to receive SSDI is the inability to perform gainful activities, when on unemployment it is assumed that you are fully capable of working again.
