Slow VA time....

I know this is posted often or people gripe about it a lot...

What kind of time line can I expect now that I am at the "Review of Evidence" portion of the claim?

I know it's different for everyone but after my discharge, I'm working at a job that pays very little and barely making ends meet. My savings is depleted and I'm really hoping this VA funding comes through for me somewhat soon.

I'm guessing since my list is somewhat long that I am a "harder" case....it's been 266 days...=/

Not sure what I am really asking here... I guess somewhat venting but hopefully someone who has been through this phase will tell me roughly how long it took them from the phase I am in now.
 
Are you retired or something? what branch you served in? If your waiting on VA then you need to call your congressman. My uncle been waiting since 2010

No, not retired...Air Force rated me @ 20% for my back... I probably should of fought it but by the time I got my rating, I was just drained... I had no fight left =/

I thought I've read somewhere that calling your congressman can make it worse...as in they pull the file, then it has to go through that chain, then back to the VA, essentially adding more time to your wait?
 
I feel your pain, mine has been in Maryland since 15 Nov 2011 and I only have 2 conditions. I've just learned to let go and let the process work, it's the only thing you can do.
 
I noticed your both AF and I'm assuming your under the legacy system. Did you do the Benifits Delivered at Discharge, Quick Start, or did you wait until you were out to file? I've heard so many different things that I don't know what to believe. I started this process under the quick start on 9 Dec 2011, I figure I can last to the end of Dec of 2012 before I have real trouble. I knew a person who retired and then filed. He just finished with the VA after 6 months and he too had a long list. I was shocked but I guess it depends on work load, holidays, sick time, and vacations among other things. One would think they would want to clear us off so they can focus on the IDES personnel.

I got out April 23rd 2011 but had terminal leave.... So I was home in Feb... I immediately went to the va and was told I couldn't file till I was actually out.. So I filed right after.
 
I've heard (rumors, I don't know anybody) that it could take up to 18 months if you file after your out and I think they didn't know what they were talking about. Like I state, I do know someone who got his back in 6 months (about 2 months ago) who filed after leaving service but that is probably very rare.

I've been in the review of evidence phase on ebenefits for a little over a month now
 
I filed after I got out (legacy) as well. My VA claim just hit the 1 year mark on 1 Jan, and I only have 1 condition! A lot of it has to do with what you claimed, how well everything is documented, and the workload at the VARO your claim is at. I'm being told the average is 12-16 months now and that number seems to get higher every time I ask. I have also read about how involving your congressman is not always a good thing. My advice would be to wait for now and not take too aggressive action unless it has started to get out of hand and you are not seeing any progression.

from what i understand the more stuff you send the va for review the longer it takes. i sent them one thing and it was about a month for them to rate me. the way it was explained to me everything you send to them for review takes a different doctor which is why it takes longer. someone please correct me if im wrong.

Yea, I'm thinking about calling but in my experience calling the VA, it's a LONG time of waiting on hold.

We are going through the process to buy a home real soon and I REALLY need this claim to go through.
 
So if i have 10 claims but i already went through the C+P Process how long should i be waiting? I still haven't been found unfit yet, hoping to hear that at the end of the month since the PEB has had my case since Dec 6th.
 
I'm Active Duty Navy, IDES, with my VA portion being rated out of Providence RI. My "Review of Evidence" stage took from mid September until 18 JAN. So, approx 4 months.
 
Were you found unfit? and then it took that long? I am just curious now if i get an unfit finding to when i might be out.
 
I spoke with a lady at the VA office today.

She said if I am having financial hardship that I can fill out some forms and send them in and request them to expedite my process due to financial hardship.

My bills = more than I bring in money wise.

I haven't had to file bankruptcy or anything for two reasons, I HAD (keyword: had) a savings account and my mother is ok enough on money to loan me some in time of need.

Bank of Mom will eventually run out as well.

So I'm filling out my paperwork for financial hardship tonight and will fax it in...we will see if this helps at all.
 
the navy side from what i was told by my pelbo is IF it goes to the va that means you were found unfit. if they find you fit for duty their is no reason for the va to rate you because you will still be active duty.

did you go through an MEB? if so what were your results and paths of obtaining income have you pursued for your state?

Yes, I went through a MEB... I should of fought the results but I saw the light at the end of the tunnel (separating and being free of the military) and took the 20% rating I was given.

Now I await the VA...

I haven't pursued anything from the state.
