Sheppard AFB - MEB Timeline (PTSD, Psoriasis)

If you're being solely MEB'd for MH, then it means they have your DBQ and are using it to generate your MH Narsum. That was one of the final steps for me.

I'm being MEB'd for MH and physical health. But she said the physical health packet also came back for my PCM. Does this mean there are 2 NARSUM stages during IDES? One at the beginning before it goes up to AFPC and another at the end of the MEB stage?

So I had a MH and a physical narsum. The physical narsum for me was generated at the beginning and reviewed by my pcm again once I was done with the VA portion (I assume to see if anything dramatically different was found). Since I was only MEB'D for a physical (neurological condition) I only had a narsum done at MH at the end of the process i assume, since I was rated by the VA fairly heavily on the MH side of the house.

Once my narsum was finalized at the end, I was essentially less than 30 days out from being done. My timeline has the specific dates if you're curious.

Gotcha! Mine has been PH and MH since the beginning (PTSD, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis) so I had 2 NARSUMs before it even went to AFPC. So it sounds like the providers now just have to review the same NARSUMs for accuracy to end the MEB portion?

15 Dec - Disqualifying condition documented
17 Dec - PCM places AMRO referral
17 Jan 24 - AMRO board approves code 37
23 Jan 24 - CC impact statement submitted to PEBLO ("Do not retain")
30 Jan 24 - NARSUM from both PCM and Mental Health sent to PEBLO ("Do not retain" from both) w/2 more DQ conditions
1 Feb 24 - Case sent to AFPC for fitness determination
14 Feb 24 - FL4 approved, full MEB required for both MH and PH
15 Feb 24 - Emailed by VA MSC to initiate records review
20 Feb 24 - First phone appt w/ MSC, claims submitted
28 Feb 24 - First C&P Exam
14 Mar 24 - Last C&P Exam
3 Apr 24 - End of MEB stage: Signed 618 (MEB findings) to proceed w/IPEB (no rebuttal)

Timeline is moving pretty quick! Today, I got to review my NARSUMs and DBQs with the PEBLO. Still waiting to see my case close out on VA.gov and I'm back in "hurry up & wait" mode for 2-5 weeks until the IPEB results come back.

4 Apr 24 - Received MyFSS email. My Commander receives estimate of 30-45 days for final decision.

23 Apr - MyVA case shows as closed and decision letter has been mailed (cannot view any details online though for some reason)

If you call the VA and tell them you are unable to access your decision letter, they will email you a copy. It happened to me and a few others.

Congrats! So happy for you! My timeline started about a week after yours but got delayed somewhere between FL4 and contact with a MSC. Do you have the phone number you called to request the email from the VA regarding your ratings? Assuming the same thing happens to me I would like to have the number as I have never contacted the VA besides my MSC. Thanks!

I've only called this number twice and both times, there was almost no wait! Also, best advice I can give is to be persistent. Call your MSC, there's probably only 1 or 2 assigned to wherever you're at. Go to their office if feasible. I'm positive that my IDES has moved faster at least somewhat due to my own persistence and attention to detail.

WOW! I'm sure you are overjoyed with those ratings! I would be throwing a party. I hope you have a smooth health journey from here on out. I have never heard of requesting a date of retirement. Is this something you can ask of AFPC?

Dang! I am about 2-3 weeks behind you. I hope my ratings come back as strong and as quickly! Congrats and I hope the next chapter is better for you.

I definitely am haha! And thank you. So yeah, when you get your IPEB findings, assuming they are separating/retiring you, you fill out a worksheet with the number of terminal leave days you want to use/sell. On the notes section at the bottom, your PEBLO should tell you to put your desired date.

Thanks so much! Hang in there but be persistent if needed - check the VA.gov website daily and call your PEBLO if you see something change before they contact you.

Hello!

I see our timelines are similar, and I signed the 1180 a day after you. So I was wondering if you have received your Orders yet, or have been given a time frame of when they would show in PRDA?

Not yet, still checking every day though (email, vMPF, and PRDA). Not sure if the EFMP "cheat code" works for separations/retirements the way it does for PCS but either way, nothing showing up there either. PEBLO told me less than 2 weeks has been common lately.

My PEBLO told me that I could have my orders within 2 duty days LOL, so with that in my head I contacted AFPC and they said my case for Medical Sep was still open (whatever that means). I hope you get your orders soon!
