Hello,

I just found out last month I’m being taken off of TDRL and separated with severance at 20% but on my orders it says it was determined to be combat related. What does this mean as far as my severance pay is concerned? Thanks for the help.

Not really much, however if the condition(s) you are receiving severance for occurred in a combat zone, it will not be recouped by the VA.

You can also apply fro CRSC with your branch.
One must be in a retired status to receive CRSC. CRSC replaces some or all of waived retired pay.

She mentioned, "I just found out last month I’m being taken off of TDRL and separated with severance at 20% but on my orders it says it was determined to be combat related." Since she ended up >30%, she was not retired, but separated.

Correction: "Since she ended up <30%, she was not retired, but separated."
I incorrectly used the more than symbol, ">" .

She had less than 30%; therefore, she did not retire.
