Seattle Regional VA Timelines:

I already wrote my congressman and did an IRIS inquiry last week and still haven't heard anything back yet. I'm thinking about going to my Regional VARO and I guess DAV office next week. Would they be able to help find out anything? My Claim is at Seattle and they are in Denver.

With your unfit date of 10/10/13, you really aren't that far along to start shooting star clusters. I know it sucks, I was of the same mentality around that time frame, but until you are past the Army average it's best to not stress about it.

I know, but they're making me go to the field this week and the again at the end of February. Can't stand this unit. Plus my family is 1,500 miles away, this isn't very beneficial to my conditions.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."
Best Wishes!

I found out were my claim is at in this process. I am wondering if you have any insite to where I am at. I feel the end is near, this is what I found out today.

Your claim is currently with the coach of the review team to determine if they have everything they need to send the file to the rating board. If they need anything else, they'll let you know. If they don't, it will be sent to the rating board for a preliminary rating. I will put it on my calendar to follow up next week and see if there has been any movement.

possibly, but make sure you ask the right questions. I would start with "what is the status of my claim". If they answer, "the system says "awaiting PEB guidance" you may want to ask if your claim has been given to a rater yet and if so, which rater. Initiating a Congressional could very well slow your case down. If a staffer from the office calls you, you may want to politely ask them to inquire into the status of your case (especially if you are a backlogged case--over 125 days at the VA) for you if they can do it without starting an official Congressional. I'm drafting a similar letter for my 3 star to send to a Deputy Undersecretary at the VA to see if I can get my file moved along

Where did you get this info from? An IRIS inquiry, VA, DAV etc.

I contacted the VA. According to the Va everything is adequate so I figure I'm near the end. I was hoping to find someone that either experienced this step or knows somthing about it.

Unless your way above the average wait time, their is nothing you could do to speed up the process, if it was to happen.. your being a blue falcon because that rater has to stop working on a current claim to pull your claim.

Timelines are not going to get any better until they are more claims going out than they are coming in!!

just my 2 cents

your best bet is to contact DAV and just wait, we can't really give a clear cut estimate and that will only stress you more if out estimate was way off

Anyone know at what point when you start clearing you get your DD214?

All I could find out that my claim is with the coach of a reveiw team to determine if they need more evedance or it will go to the rating board. I hope I find somthing out her shortly. I will just hurry up and wait.

Pending decision approval!!! I hope its not just a glitch in ebenefits! Was gathering evidence yesterday. But I uploaded everything and had my MSC send them everything too. Also mailed it in. If you look at my timeline, I been waiting awhile and had to go through hell to get to this point.

Yea man sorry to hear that you had to do another exam, which probably set you back longer than average! Hopefully you get the rating you deserved

Hell it only took me 2 months for proposed but took me 5 months to get official

Yeah it sucks but its been 15 days seance they received the new exams from the Dr. I figure it can't be much longer. I appreciate the word, I want out more than anything. We will see what happens have less than 50 days till I hit the magic 295. I was hoping to get out before that but I am not going to hold my breath right now.

I had better luck "forcing" my PEBLO to go into their system and print out everything from date X to date Y and sat down to read it all. Turned out reading the generic title of an update vastly differed from the notes within said update. One said Inadequate exam. Reading into it, I found out that they only had a question and sent it back to the doctor to clarify an item. Crucial info was not always in the first 3-5 lines of an update.

And by forcing; I mean meeting with my PEBLO, having him bring up my case on their computer system and hitting Control-P. Had he done that to begin with would have cleared up a lot of missing details/misinformation.

Response via Email (Department of Veterans Affairs) 01/29/2014 04:22 PM
Dear Mr.
This is in response to your inquiry to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) dated January 21, 2014.
We are grateful for your service to our country.
We apologize for the delay in our response time, as we have been responding to an unusual influx of inquiries over the last several months. We appreciate your patience.
Our records indicate your claim was initially processed as a Disability Evaluation System (DES) claim, which was initiated on June 2, 2013, with multiple contentions. We received your compensation & pension medical examination results; however, we are awaiting your Service Discharge Papers (DD-214). Your date of claim is July 2, 2013, which is the day you became a Veteran.
Your claim is currently in the decision phase and is waiting for review by the rating team. If the rating team determines that we have all the required evidence needed, we will prepare a decision on your claim and notify you in writing.
Currently claims at the Seattle are taking about 15 months to complete. Please understand that these timeframes are only averages, and that your claim may take longer based upon the specifics of your claim and VA’s pending workload.
There is one additional phase: Notification Phase.
We apologize for the length of time it is taking to make a decision on your claim; however, we are currently experiencing a backlog of claims. The decision phase can sometimes be a lengthy process because we want to make sure every claim has a thorough review, as well as a fair and accurate decision.
Please be advised you can file a claim, check the status of appeals, compensation, and pension claims, upload evidentiary information, request letters, add dependents, update direct deposit and change of address thorough the eBenefits portal. This is a joint Department of Defense (DOD) and VA service that provides resources and self service capabilities to service-members, Veterans, their families, and caregivers.
Because eBenefits gives you access to your own personal information we must protect your privacy and your confidential information. We offer two levels of access: Basic and Premium. Additional information about eBenefits and the enrollment process can be found online at:
https://www.ebenefits.va.gov/ebenefits-portal/ebenefits.portal.
In addition, our electronic records indicate a different phone number than what has been input into this inquiry. We have taken the initiative to update your phone number. Please inform us if this action was done in error.
Thank you for contacting us. If you have questions or need additional help with the information in our reply, please respond to this message or see our other contact information below.
Sincerely yours,

Went and talked to the PEBLO today and the VA rep happened to be there and took the time to sit down with me and look at my claim. She told me that my claim was assigned to the ratings board on 23 Jan. She said that the ratings board typically takes about 30 days. Can anybody else confirm or deny this for me?

Still waiting on CBWTU orders going on about 90 days…

Man that 15 months is a hard thing to read. I'm am on month 8 and the thought of going for another 7 months is a hard pill to swallow. I know all cases are different but 15 months that's horrible.
