It's like the DMV and the Mayor of Toronto are kicking it.

I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I'm convinced that the VA purposely moves at snail-like pace to ensure that they have job security with a high workload. Nobody has yet to explain to me how it doesn't take 5 minutes to do a rating. Look up the condition in the VASRD and find the ratings. Add the ratings with your VA backwards math calculator and you're done. Send it to one supervisor or send it to ten to QA/QC and then send it back to the PEB. Not that difficult.

Does the "VA ratings clock" phase officially start from when the claim was developed at the beginning of IDES or after the IPEB unfit memo is sent to VA asking for ratings?

I don't think anyone really knows how the VA's (smoke and mirrors) ratings system works. I think they purposely keep it secret so they can lie to us all. If I had to guess it start when they receive the unfit determination. But others have told me that they have 30 days from the time they receive the unfit memo to accept the unfit memo and then the clock should start. This is why I refer to their IDES ratings process as smoke and mirrors earlier in this post.

I'm calculating about 1200 claims processed between last week and this.

4869 last week
6058 this week

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Indeed, from a DoD IDES Timeline processing perspective, the DoVA "Preliminary Rating Board" starts after the PEB-referred unfitting condition(s) memorandum is forwarded to the designated DoVA D-RAS requesting ratings with supportive rationale.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Does anyone have a # that I can call for the VA up in Seattle? Every time I have tried I get the autovoice saying they are to busy and it hangs up on me. My PEBLO is so over worked all I hear from her is to wait, she will contact me when they contact her.

I am a long time reader and this is my first post to this forum. Like most Service Members who are on this site I am just as confused as everyone else with the IDES system. I have talked to everyone to include my PEBLO, VSO, and VA Rep when calling the 800 number but they all keep giving me the same answer "BE PATIENT!!" Well it's getting harder and harder to be patient when you continue to see people get their ratings back when they received their unfit memo a month or two after you did. Please don't get me wrong, I am happy when someone is getting their paperwork back with good results. It's just hard to understand the method to the VA madness.

These are my timelines so far. Keep in mind, I was referred to the MEB in June of 2012. It took until April 2013 to get LOD's approved and have my commander do his letter.

MEB Referral 06/08/2012
PEBLO Inbrief 04/25/2013
MSC Inbrief 05/22/2013
VA Exams 06/5/2013
Medical Eval Board 06/24/2013
Informal PEB 06/25/2013
VA Ratings (Seattle) Holding pattern since 06/28/2013 (Ebenefits says Review of Evidence since June)

Try 1-206-341-8267; it seems to be a number that I have seen a lot for Seattle, WA albeit no guarantees for success are promised.

Indeed, we all feel your elevated anxiety and stress levels at this particular "waiting game" point within the DoD IDES process!

To that extent, I am not going to say to you those golden "two words" albeit try to remain positively proactive as feasiblely possible. It's understood that IDES ranting is a form of stress relief and I applaud you for doing it on this site where you have support rather than via any other destructive type venue.

For sure, your IPEB findings inclusive of DoD and DoVA proposed ratings are definitely forthcoming; it just seems like a "why me" type syndrome for its non-receipt. Naturally, it’s not us; it’s the DoD IDES process!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

It looks like the wait may be close to an end!
My status changed to pending decision approval this morning.
This afternoon it changed to gathering of evidence! They are requesting separation documents!
I missed my PEBLO, she had just got off, so tomorrow morning I will be in her office!
I hope there is good news!

Shane
I would assume you are close since our dates are the same!
I am praying for you that they are!

I don't mind waiting for my ratings. But I get really aggravated when I see people get ratings before me, well only the ones that had their unfit memo sent after mine. I mean good for them but I feel like there should be some sort of line lol

Yep. You keep on trucking, Brother. I hope it ALL good!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, not even VA.
We'll beat them, the finish line is in sight.

There are a bunch of us clustered around the first part of July. Hang in there! Won't be long!

Something else: They may be taking longer because of wanted accuracy, or to make sure you get the best rating, to make sure you are getting treated fairly. Whoever has your claim, may be looking to make sure you get maxed out. We'll never know, but be positive and hopeful. There's a reason, it's just a VA secret. Stay up.

Onward, Upward!

What is the timeline like if all goes well after proposed ratings? Just tryi g to estimate when i COULD be getting out.

I got my ratings in September for me I got my 199 a week after everything changed on ebenefits. Signed and returned the same day which was a Thursday. Called transitions the following Monday found out I was on the list received 4187 for final out date Tuesday after noon. Had orders the following Monday after having to wait for leave form to be signed. Finaled out that Thursday.

It will also depend on how quick you want it to go once you sign your 199 and come down on the transitions list.

Ok, i havent thought about any of this. Honestly, the monster of just getting the ratings seemed like it would never come.
I just dont want to be waiting around at all if all goes well with 199
