I have not compared the old with the new fully, but

—the need for a regular 20 yr retiree with 50% VA no longer has to waive retired pay in the amount of VA comp received. The retiree receives concurrent mil pay and VA comp automatically

—the term “CRDP” is no longer in use. The name changed.

—for Chapter 61 retirees who are also eligible for regular retirement, there seems to be a different manner in the treatment of retirement pay in excess of the longevity amount. Since the longevity is automatic and the initial waiver requirement no longer exists, residual retired pay does not exist. However, the retired pay in excess of the longevity must be waived.
The retiree still ends up with the previous maximum (the total of residual plus CRDP could not exceed the longevity amount) but the path to get there has changed. This is a first glance opinion.

—-there is much more in the full revision, to include new terms/categories for certain retirees.
