27 September is my official last day. Im excited. However whats the max amount of terminal leave I can take? Is it 60 or more if I have it? Im going to commander in the morning with my terminal leave sheet and want it filled out right so I can walk over to the MPF and pick my final out day!

How did you get a retirement date of 27 Sep? I thought you could only pick between 30 and 60 days to med sep/retire... I am Navy so maybe thats why? I know you can sell back no more than 60 days of leave. Not sure about terminal leave while active duty... I think that depends on your command and what they will approve.

I had over 60 days of leave.. They pick the date based on how much leave you have (They assume you are going to take almost all terminal), 20 days permissive TDY even if you dont take it, plus applicable time to out process. They also make the date at the end of the month for some reason. You may be able to move the date forward if you tell them you want to sell your leave, but just take it as terminal you will bank more money

You can take ALL of your leave as long as your commanders sign off on those leave forms- part I, II, III...They also have to sign off for the permissive and you must come back and sign back in and then start out-processing- go to separations/retirements and get your briefing first- they will walk you through all the paperwork that is needed- your next immediate step is to e-mail finance for special actions to set up the retirement briefing- are only offered on certain days, and most classes fill up- at least here they do- they had to specially add me in because my date was less than 2 weeks away and all the classes were full...your commanders must sign the forms and then when you have your brief with finance they officially decide your date- but it has to be approved by commanders then finance- I am selling leave back and am not doing permissive so I did not have to turn those forms in, but finance will e-mail you an out-processing checklist that must be signed by the government travel card POC, commander, and customer service leave web POC; agreeing that you are not in debt to the AF, are not under court martial, etc...finance won't even meet with you until they have all signed forms- I have had to go back and forth three times already to fiance and TMO because they have lost my paperwork...has been frustrating, but at least its almost over! Next week is my final out :) I started out-processing Monday and I am almost done with everything- I was worried I wouldn't have enough time, but if you are able to just out-process for a good 1-2 weeks everything gets done pretty quick.

Army is 90 days max. for terminal leave plus Permissive TDY.

Yeah, this is why I am screwed. I have 90 days leave right now. Once I get my orders I will have to sell 60 days so I can use the remaining 30 and take my 30 days permissive TDY. I am thinking about just not taking the TDY so I can get my severance sooner and the 60 days I am selling back. I know I lose a little money by doing it that way, but I would also like to pay some things off before I go and buy another house. My 90 days started on 8 Jun so I hope to God I am terminal leave on 8 July.

What do they base the 90 days off of (in regards to the 90 day maximum rule) and if they set a retirement date for a medical retirement, what is the process to get that date moved back a month (extend it)?
