This question probably has probably come up many times, I am just not sure 100%.
I started receiving compensation from the VA and DOD. I retired DEC 28 with 40% DOD and 90% VA, I got 725$ minus taxes from DOD and 1370$ VA tax free this month, however, the VA letter of compensation has updated to the right amount of 90% disability 2029$ monthly. Will I receive VA compensation and DOD compensation or just VA? or both but to a combined amount of 2029$? what is CRDP? do I qualify for that?
Thanks in advance

Your DoD medical retirement will be offset by the VA C&P award. If your VA C&P award is greater than your DoD retirement, then you get nothing. If you DoD retirement is greater than your VA C&P than you will also get the difference between the two.

If you DoD retirement is based upon conditions that were combat related, you can apply for combat related special compensation (CRSC) and potentially get an award that will restore some or all of the VA offset.

CRDP is concurrent receipt of retirement and disability payments, it means that if you have 20+ year length of service retirement, you will be able to collect it as well as your VA C&P award.

ok thanks for the info, thats why the VA updated the info after the first payment when it was offset. makes sense! thanks again!
