Ok so I'm very confused on this topic I've done a lot of research and still can't find the answer . So for severance pay recoupment how does it work for example if I get 20% DOD and 70% total will I be getting paid at a 50% rate. Or for example my monthly check is 800 a month do they hold 20% of that which is 600 a month after recoupment. I've heard some people say they only recoupment like 80 a month with makes no sense toe.

Still doesn't make since to me how is 10% of 3100 only 120 wouldn't that make it 310

Or do that they take the 10% at a VA rate like for example VA 10 % rate on the pay chart is$142 would they take that or 10% of your total

That is a good example.

They use the VA compensation tables as you suggested in your next post.

Ok so if you got 80 total and DOD technically your pay would be 70% DOD
We are not talking about DoD percentages; the discussion involves the reduction of VA comp for severance pay recoupment.

No...the different VA tables/rates are not built based on the factors you mention.

You will receive the 80% VA rate per your example
Minus the dollar amount for 10% VA rate in your example
=
Net VA comp

added: see post 10 for caveats due to unclear info.

If the recoupment is based on 10% (per your statement)
The rate at which you receive VA compensation (which is unclear at this point)
minus the dollar amount for 10% VA rate (per your info only)
=
Net VA comp
