Good afternoon everyone,
I am currently active duty Army and have been in for 4 years. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder earlier this year along with anxiety and depression (which to my understanding were all categorized under bipolar disorder). Today I had my psychological exam and was informed that due to this particular diagnosis, the recommendation to my Command was going to be for a medical discharge in lieu of the administrative separation I had originally been undergoing. The regulations for a medical discharge based on a mood disorder seem a bit lofty to me as I don't seem to fit the exact criteria for any one reason. I have not been hospitalized, but my diagnosis has been in effect for almost a year and has interfered with my work capabilities from time to time. I have been on quite a few different medications and have been in and out of meetings with my social worker for just as long.
What can I expect as far as reasonable timelines and outcomes from a MEB board based primarily on a psychological diagnosis?
Thank you!
