On oct 29th my doc gave me a temp profile recommending meb for depression, anxiety and ptsd symptoms. The doc said he can't do a perm profile because they may want to add some stuff to it before writing a perm one. (I have bad knees, asthma, hypothyroid and possible fibromyalgia) 2 weeks later he finishes the memo and sends it to the brigade surgeon for official referral into system. How long does it usually take to get assigned a peblo once recommended? My unit is wanting something showing I am starting the meb process. In march I will have 16 years of service and am worried about this whole deal. I don't mind being medically retired.

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Depends albeit from my experiences within the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process, assignment of a PEBLO should be within a couple of days upon official IDES acceptance then he/she shall perform an initial counseling; take that documentation to your unit as proof when received in my opinion.

In retrospect, since the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process is a performance-based system, one important factor is the impact of all medical conditions affecting the military service member's ability to "reasonably perform duties of his or her office, grade, rank or rating."

As such, I would like to direct your attention to my PEB Forum URL thread for a detailed explanation about the entire DoD IDES process as follows:

http://www.pebforum.com/site/threads/a-detailed-explanation-of-the-dod-ides-meb-peb-process.22807/

To that extent, please remain "positively proactive" upon your referral and acceptance into the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process! For sure, never default acceptance to any injustices; fight then continue to fight some more until receipt of your desired expectations supportive via medical evidence and/or medical documentation!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer!"

Best Wishes!

I was recommended for MEB on Aug 21. I heard from the receptionist telling me what paperwork I would need for the PEBLO on Nov 2nd, but no appt with the PEBLO yet. Also, the profile has not been changed from Temp to Perm. My nurse case manager says that it should be next week.
However, on the day that I received my temp profile(8/21) I received a memo stating that I was starting the MEB process to give to my Commander.

Yikes! That is a long time to be waiting! I asked my doc about a memo and he said the temp profile should be enough... I just want to get the ball rolling. I hate being in limbo.

I definately feel you about the waiting. My wife just got diagnosed by the VA for radiation poisoning from her time in. I want/need to be home to take care of her and my daughter. But, it's all a waiting game. My guidance went from "You'll be out by Thanksgiving" to "You'll be out by the first of the year". Can't wait to hear what the next time frame is.

Limbo is the perfect description of the entire MEB process. You will need to spend considerable effort redirecting that hate into something useful or people around you will be getting choked out left and right.

Unfortunately, the MEB/PEB processes involve lots of limbo. Lots of folks have gone through the process and survived and you can too. I spent about 14 months in the process. Its much faster now.
