Hi all. I Served in the USCG from 2001 to 2004. In 2003, was feeling like I needed someone to talk to and engaged the EAP program to see if I could shake the blues. One thing led to another and before I knew it, I was before a CG Captain who was a psychiatrist and he diagnosed me with BiPolar. They told me I would have to be separated early, but that I would receive and honorable Discharge, severance, and disability. I left the CG, and didn't even pursue the disability until 2010 or so. I didn't feel I deserved it, as other vets were coming home from the Middle East missing limbs. When I did, I was rated at 30%. All is well until I receive this PBR2 form certified mail from the DOD. It cited the Wounded Warrior act and said because of the date of my separation, I could have it reviewed for a possibly higher rating. In all honesty, I do feel my Bipolar getting worse since I was separated in 2004, and now awadays it's very hard to hold down a job. I want to try to fill this Jong out but it's hard to understand and I don't even know if I have a chance considering my disability is mental and not physical. I'd like to hire a lawyer but I can't afford one. Any ideas or advice guys? I really wanted to retire from the CG and serve my country but they made me leave. What can i do? Thanks.
