I started the MEB process back in late September 19 for PTSD (combat related)
and migraines. I’ll spare my timelines, but can provide if requested.
26 March case was closed out with VA
Received findings 14 April: TDRL
-50% for PTSD & 50% Migraines
-80% DOD
-100% VA
Not sure when to expect a retirement date but anticipate mid July based on having 60 days of leave on the books. I’m an O3 with 10 yrs 6 months AD. Married with 3 dependents
Questions I have and would appreciate opinions on are as follows.
-can anyone help me calculate what my final monthly payments will be? Not sure if the TDRL status affects the DOD retirement.
- I understand that my DoD payment will be offset but unsure if CRSC is an option with my PTSD documented as combat related.
-I’m not working despite being on AD still due to COVID and due to the PEB process. Not sure if I should sell back leave?
-what could the group recommend with regards to health care for my family after my retirement? I’m aware of Tricare option but don’t know how the process is different than being on AD.
-when would I be eligible for PDRL? How long does that take and what does the process look like?
- in my findings it says I am eligible for Chapter 35 P&T. Is that automatic? If not, can I be P&T while being on TDRL?
over all I am happy with the PEB findings and I cannot wait to close this chapter. I served 10+ years as a helo pilot in the Marine Corps. Deployed to Afghanistan and did some of the most amazing things. Sustained scars that will stay with me forever but wouldn’t change a thing. As this PEB process comes to an end though I find there are many questions and concerns that I never thought of.
Any guidance/advice is greatly appreciated!
