Question in regards to my Formal Board request and what followed.

I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy with cataplexy and OSA. I am on Xyreme and C-PAP therapy, with a very limited work schedule. My initial NMA was written with a tone of praise about my work ethic, but we did not know any better. My package went to up for evaluation in August and in September I was found fit. My PEBLO told me the NMA was the cause, so I contacted a JAG officer and she guided myself, and my COC, on what to do for the appeal. I got a new NMA (stating the effects my limitations have on my department and such), my statement, my spouses statement, and my neurologists gave a statement, and my PEBLO sent it back with a request for a Formal Board. This was September 23rd. About 2 weeks later my PEBLO called me and told me I do not have to go to a Formal Board and it is being pushed forward. I said ok... Does anyone know what exactly this means? My PEBLO said this happens sometimes...

According to what my PEBLO had told me at that stage most people are given an offer and dont actually have to go to the formal board. I was the first person not given an offer and went to the formal board. I would log into ebenefits and check the status of your paperwork with the VA.

Thank you for the reply. I found out that I did not have to go to a formal board and the PEB found me unfit after reviewing my record with the new NMA. I found out that the NMA is very important in regards to the PEB decision of either fit or unfit. I was lucky that my COC was willing to help me, talked to my JAG officer about what to actually write in it, and got it written and signed by my CO in 5 working days. Pretty impressive if you ask me :)
