Question about IDES Overseas

I was recently approved for IDES from Okinawa, Japan. They approved me for shoulder instability and anxiety. I recently had an MRI done on my back which showed i have spinal stenosis and a few bulging disks in the lumber of my back. My question is when i get back to the states will i be able to add this to my PEB.

When you meet with the VA rep you can claim anything you want to claim. The military often refers a member to the IDES process for a single item, but the VA claim may have contain several dozen contentions. My VA rep had already gone through my records and had more things on his list than I had on mine. Best wishes. Mike

Thank you Sir,

I appreciate the reply, I was actually referring to my DOD board. I know the VA stuff I can claim I have already met with my VA representative, but I was unsure about the DOD board.

The MEB should cover all of your conditions. What they find to fail retention standards/require referral to the PEB is the main issue that should be addressed at the MEB. If they fail to accurately address your conditions, use the MEB appeal options (IMR/IPR, MEB appeal/rebuttal/LOE).

Good luck!

The PEB should look at all conditions rated by the VA and determine which conditions, if any, are unfitting.

Gentlemen,

I thank you for all of your infinite wisdom. I will keep you informed and probably request more information before this is all over.

In 2002, I was in Okinawa Japan, when I started having seizures and the Army forced me out. I never recieved a review board and was offered $1200 in severance pay...Dealing with the VA, i started recieving 10% and have worked my way up to 40%. Out of the blue i get these forms for the PEB and i send off last mnth....what am i suppost to do nxt or expect.

dmj2345 as of right now I assume you are currently out of the armed forces. If you are already dealing with the VA, I believe the only thing you can do is continue to fight with the VA until you get what you believe you deserve. What kind of forms are you getting from the PEB??

I got the forms in the mail for the DoD Boards of Review. I guess for them to revaluate what happen to it.
