PTSD service dog

I was recently diagnosed and being medically seperated from the marine corps for ptsd(50%). And i was always really interested in getting a service dog to help me cope and get out into public more. Ive been wanting one for a while but honestly didnt think it was possbile till i was officially diagnosed and being seperated. Is there anybody out there thats went through this? any contact numbers and so on? Word of mouth i heard that you have to go to FL(im in Ca) to help train the dog or pick your. Any info is appreciated.
 
I was looking for something NDBravehart had posted in the past but could not remember his name. I did a search for him after seeing this and he seems to have vanished "error member not found". Any ideas?

I hate this when it happens to me. I just found that it is ND Bravehart84. I just can't remember the question anymore.
 
If you're still up a tree, send me a message and I'll ask the two guys I work with where they got their dogs. I only remember that one got his from the Lejeune area.
 
you can actually train the dog your self it is easier than it sounds I have a service dog for my PTSD and I got him when he was 4 weeks old and I just spent like three hours a week training him on diffrent things and he is five years old now. pinch collar and a leather leash and you can do it make sure you get all the shots for them too as well and they cant ask you what the dog is for just know you will be good
 
if you go to ADA and look on line it tells you all about it and you can even find people local to assist with the training as well if you dont want to train the dog yourself just type in service dog in google and should pull up a list
 
I trained my dog to be a service dog as well. The ADA simply requires that the user has a disability and that the dog is trained to assist with that disability. Take a quick look through the ADA's site on service dogs and you'll see how basic it is.
