I got out in 2004 and went on TDRL. I was eventually (thanks to Michael Parker's outstanding work) put on PDRL for Type 1 Diabetes. As I have been reading about issues with peoples promotions before getting out an old thorn in the side came to mind.
It has always bothered me that I worked my butt off to make Petty Officer 2nd Class in three years to only become half of one. I was diagnosed in June 2003, selected for PO2 in October/November of 2003 wore the rank and due to Navy's policies I got out as a PO2/E-4. In the Navy you pick up and wear the rank but don't become the rank because their is a "trial" period.
My question is should I have been promoted and been a PO2/E-5 per 10 U.S.C 1372 since I made rank and all that? If I had been in for a few more months I would have been E-5 but they sent me along the way with to TDRL. I know it is not a big deal but everyone that looks at my ID asks how are you a PO2 and and E-4 and I have to explain the whole thing....
Thanks for your help,
Ron
