Process after you accept your PEB findings (USMC)

So, you finally sat with your PEBLO and signed and accepted your final PEB findings.. Now what? See my experience below:

Please ensure that after you sign and accept your PEB final findings, that if 10 days go by and you have not received your new EAS, that you give your PEBLO a call and request confirmation that the PEB has sent your findings to HQMC (MMSR-4) for action. I waited 21 days before the PEB sent my package to HQMC (MMSR-4)........... That is because someone at the PEB didn't do their job and my PEBLo called they looked stupid and finally submitted my package (who knows how longer it would have taken if I had not called).. it should not take more than 10 days.. The process after you sit down with your PEBLO and go over the findings of your VA and DOD ratings and you accept them is that they are then immediately sent back to the PEB for acknowledgement of your acceptance (they basically do a quality assurance check to go over the paperwork and ensure your PEBLO did his/her job of going over the paperwork with you and nothing was missed). After this, they send it to HQMC (MMSR-4) for final action. The quality assurance check can literally be completed in day, so its not another process. I know this because some of my peers signed their final PEB findings and then a week later they had a new EAS. That is considering that HQMC (MMSR-4) has 24hrs to certify the paperwork and then 48hrs for them to see the new EAS populate on MOL (reminder: you will not get the normal MOL notification when there is a change, so keep an eye out on your BIR page).

So, the PEB finally sent your package to HQMC (MMSR-4).. Now what? See my experience below:

So this is what I got from MMSR-4 (from the GySgt's mouth). Once they receive your findings from the PEB, they have a strict 24hr turnaround to certify your package. Certifying is basically them looking over the documents and inputting the data into the system. The system then automatically calculates a new EAS based on how much leave you have accrued, plus 20 days of PTAD. Your EAS will automatically post to MCTFS/3270 once certified (give it a couple hours). However, not everyone has 3270 access, so it will take up to 48hrs to populate on MOL (that is counting on that MOL is not down - keep an eye on the date last updated in the top right corner of your MOL screen). It is good to note that your new EAS will either be on the 15th or end of the month. If you are already too close to your original EAS date, expect to be extended to meet your total leave and PTAD time. Even if you are extended further, keep in mind that you are able to start terminal as soon as your remaining days match your total leave + PTAD (plus, remember you are still accruing 2.5 days more of leave every month you are on terminal that gets calculated in the system that IPAC works with you in the Outbound Interview). To barney style this, if your total leave + PTAD is 60 days and you are 90 days out from your new EAS.. In about 30 days you will be able to start terminal because now your remainder days are 60 which equals your 60 total days of PTAD/Leave. Every month you are on terminal you are still accruing the 2.5 days of more leave, so you can add that to your terminal leave time (which in this case you will be allowed 65 days on terminal).

I appreciate your response to me, and this write up. It seems like you and I both experienced the same failure of the PEB. I waited 32 days before someone realized that my package was never sent up to the PEB in the first place. I re-signed my findings yesterday and it was sent straight to the "Head PEBLO". I was told my EAS should be posted by late this week or early next week. I'll start bugging MMSR-4 tomorrow.

This process is a lot more difficult and stressful than it has to be. I've had to postpone job interviews, school interviews and some family commitments because some people can't be bothered to do their jobs. No one hates Marines more than the civilians that work with Marines.

Good luck in your transition brother, and thank you for the information.

Yes thank you for this. I signed my findings on Tuesday and am hoping that my EAS populates as soon as SimpsonX's.

Does anyone know if admin has to do anything for the Outbound Interview to become active once your EAS is posted? My EAS just updated on MOL and I have the Travel tab active but the Outbound Interview isn't authorized yet. I'm hoping it is just a bit behind as I wanted to have it done tonight so I can go to IPAC tomorrow. I technically could start terminal on Monday if IPAC is quick about it.

Do you know if there is a limit on how far out they will push a date? I have 85 days of leave right now and if I get 20 days of PTAD, that would take me to almost 4 months haha. Would they really let me go on 4 months of terminal?

Hi there, I just had my re-examination for PTSD this month. As of August of this year (2021) I will be at the 5 year mark. Here is my question. I disagree with some of the things in my re-eval NARSUM. Some inconsistencies. One sentence says I do "whatever" daily and then the very next sentence says "SM states does not do "whatever" daily. That is just one example. My peblo said in his experience with these sort of inconsistencies it is better to "I do concur" and THEN do an appeal. This does not make any sense to me. Why not fix the discrepancies now? I am so confused and the OSC has not returned any of my voicemails or email. Should I put "I do not concur" because of inconsistencies like this???
I have no clue.... thank you

Just my opinion but I would not concur if i didn't agree. However, I wouldn't sign anything until I received advice from my attorney. If OSC doesn't respond I would pay for a private attorney since the ramifications could be huge.

Hey, so it’s now been 3 weeks since I signed my findings and I have yet to receive anything about a date. I emailed HQMC and they said they hadn’t received my findings from the PEB and to wait 2-6 weeks for them to get them. I called and emailed my PEBLO on multiple occasions and she would just tell me she didn’t have anything and would get more and more annoyed everytime i contacted her. I would ask her to call the PEB to see what’s going on and why they wouldn’t send them already and she always claims they never got back to her. What can I do? Is there any way I can contact the PEB myself? I know they’re just not doing their job cuz the other guy who’s stuff was sent the same day as mine got his date in 2 days. If you know anything I can do I would appreciate the help.

I am in the same boat, if anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, its been 4 months since you posted this so I would hope you’d be out, but I was just wondering if you ever figured anything out? Also, East or west coast? And could I possibly get the email you used to get in touch with HQMC?

Has anyone ever received an extension after the IPEB Findings either to the 90 days or even more for medical purposes?

Saw your timeline and it's similar to mine. Did you do a final physical for your checkout? I'm 10 lb overweight and have been paranoid whether the final physical h/w will affect your discharge.

No final physical is required for checkout.

Now, if you haven't done your semi-annual H/W, the company office could be a pain in the ass and make you weigh in but as far as medical is concerned, tell them that you're being medically retired and they will just sign the checkout sheet.

Even if you were overweight at discharge it shouldn't matter unless you've failed BCP before. IIRC you have to fail a couple weigh-ins for it to affect you seriously. My bet is your company won't care enough, but stranger things have happened.

You're still going to sign the RE-3P paperwork for being disabled which is the same discharge code for overweight issues. Since MMSR-4 is the authority on your discharge it should be honorable, the few cases I've heard of it being GUHC were honorable for VA purposes.

I've failed h/w one time being 2 lb overweight but reweighed the next day during my "60" day grace period before formal BCP assignment; I had height loss from my injury and got medical backing for it. Would that be enough for the green weenie?

Here's the black and white from MCO 6110.3A w/Ch 3IMG_4508.jpeg

Like most things it's up to your commander. The good news is regardless of how it shakes out I'm willing to bet this is a circumstance easily upgradable in post. Hoping the best for you regardless. FWIW it's a lot more trouble for the command to throw dual processing on you and if it can be avoided it usually is. When was your last weigh in?

it was last week, I passed 5 lb under my max

And what stage are you in your medboard? You don't weigh in on the way out as a standard protocol if that's what you're still panicked about.
Just got my dod/va findings and accepted them last week. Waiting for MMSR4 to receive my findings. Currently signing for TRS at HQBN

You're fine man. Guessing you have a rating for anxiety lol. Nobody is gonna throw you into a company office for a weigh in you did within the last couple months unless there's a company inspection. If anyone's at risk of BCP they don't consider you for the safety of the inspection anyway.

Hope you got the ratings you're happy with - focus on post mil life rather than mil life - you've likely got less than a month at your unit from the day you signed to the day you drive off for the last time.
