Preparation for Decision...

Finally, my ebenies updated and had a second claim on June 29th that initially was "Under Review". Within a few hours the second claim's status went to "Preparation for Decision" with an estimated completion date of 8/14/16 - 8/23/16. When I spoke with my MedBoard office (I would say PEBLO but I never actually get to speak with him) last week, they said that I was found unfit and with the VA Ratings officer. I have yet to receive anything formally stating that I was found unfit and which of my two proposed conditions were "fit" or "unfit". My question is, Do I receive anything formally stating the boards findings of fitness prior to my ratings being complete? And also, I was hoping to get a little more info on the timeline to expect from here. I have been seeing a lot of different information on here and I think it may be case and location (NHCP) specific, but really any info is appreciated.

rkortus... Im in the same boat. My second claim's status went to "Preparation for Decision" with an estimated completion date of 8/07/16 - 8/16/16. When I spoke with my PEBLO he wouldn't come out and say I was found Unfit, but that everything was with the VA Ratings officer. I had to ask a friend to look up if I was actually found Unfit (I was found Unfit 15 June). I have yet to receive anything formally stating that I was found unfit and which of my three proposed conditions were "fit" or "unfit". From what the folks here are telling me; I wont hear anything until the VA finalizes the ratings, sends it back to the board, and then on to the PEBLO. At that point Ill be told "officially" that Im Unfit and what the DOD/VA% is. Im not sure if its a location thing, a VA thing, or what. But it does seem like things differ from region to region. Im out in Lejeune. Best of luck.

Any luck with contacting the PEBLO at Lejeune since the holiday? My claim closed on May 7th and I have still heard nothing.

agardner... I emailed him yesterday and he got back with me in under an hr. It was short and to the point. I told him it had been two months since I went up for the FPEB and was wondering if any results had come back. He said "Nothing yet. It has been with VA-Disability Rating Officer for the last 20 day's."

I had FPEB Feb 4th, VA received results from FPEB on April 27th and sent back to board on May 7th and still nothing....

I call once a week to try and contact my PEBLO and really get no answers. I think I've gathered that the VA process will take about a month, but I guess my question is for what happens after that. So they send their ratings back to the DoD to the unfitting conditions, but why would that take more than a couple days? I would like to get in contact with my Peblo and actually find out the official results of the PEB to find out which of my conditions were found unfitting.

I called DC today to find out what the hold up is. The packages after rating from VA and DoD have to go through a rationale phase where they type up the rationale behind the ratings that are given. The Lt I spoke with stated that the PEB is backlogged in that phase right now and patience is key. (what does he know about patience) My package has been back at the PEB for 61 days now....

I had that experience. See timeline below.

My second claim just went to Historical (ebenefits says that a letter has been sent) and my wife was added as a dependent to my list of claims.

Awesome! That means the VA sent it back to the med board. Mine was sent back May 27 and I'm still waiting for my official ratings from the board.

My first claim on Ebenies just changed to "Preparation for Decision" and the QTC exams that were submitted are now "Accepted". I'm going to assume that means that someone at the VA is working on my stuff now...?

Watch for a second claim to open up as IDES and if that happens then yes it is safe to say your claim is being processed by the VA

I've already had a second claim open up labeled IDES on June 29th that is also in "Preparation for Decision"....

Bearer of bad news but now your just waiting for it to go to historic

Hey anyone know if that IDES claim means you are unfit? My package was accepted by the PEB on May 13 and I haven't heard anything since. I call and everyone I speak with says it is at pre va qa stage, whatever that means... I check ebenefits daily and still has my original claim and nothing else.... Anyone have any insight???

Typically the IDES claim getting opened means the PEB found you unfit and sent your package to the VA for ratings. They will rate ALL your claimed conditions and send that back to the PEB. The board will then give you DoD ratings for ONLY the UNFIT condition(s) and you will have DoD and VA percentages.
It would be nice if someone informed you of that and it's really hit or miss as to who contacts you. Personally I had to ask around and call my PEBLO and medical folks to get any answers where as some people get calls from the VA. It's very frustrating flying blind through the process.
I am going on over 5 months now total time after the PEB accepted my package and my MOL/MCTFS status changed. I'm currently just waiting on my DoD ratings as the VA already did their portion.

@Han Shot First im tracking how the process works man, it's just, I haven't heard anything regarding my fit/unfit condition, and the board has had my case since May 13... I get mixed word from everyone I ask so I just stopped asking to be honest. This forum has been for helpful than anyone I've actually talked to in person or on the phone so far.... How long did it take for you to find out you were unfit after the board accepted your case?

I know the frustration in dealing with this is horrible. This board is very helpful.

I had to call and ask my PEBLO and my Docs here told me that same day but I was told I was Unfit 2 months and 2 days after the Board initially accepted my package. I never got an Unfit memo like some have.

I never got a memo, letter, or phone call about being found unfit either. I had to contact a friend who just happens to have access to look it up. But I did just get a packet in the mail from the VA asking me to claim and submit any documentation for 3 other issues (Achilles tendinitis, musculoskeletal strain - what ever that is, and cervical strain).

So the VA needed additional information from you ?
