"Preparation for decision" back to "Gathering of Evidence"- requested separation documents

I am sorry if this has been answered before here but I could not find post about it. Today my case went to "Gathering evidence" from "Preparing for decision" and it says They need " Requested separation documents.", Does that mean that they finally sent my rating to PEB or I am screwed and there is something missing in paperwork? Thank you. I have been waiting for percentages only for 124 days.

Change of Status: We determined that your claim needed additional review. If additional evidence is needed from you, you will receive a letter from us explaining what is needed.
Next Steps:

What Do We Still Need From Others?
This is a list of all items that have been requested from 3rd parties.
Items From Date Requested Due Date
A 'Due Date' is associated with every piece of evidence we are attempting to gather in the processing of your claim. The date entry in this column is the date we expect to receive the evidence. If the evidence or a negative reply has not been received by this date, we will take the appropriate follow up actions in accordance with processing your claim.
Follow-Up Dates
A date entry in a 'Follow Up' column means that we have made a subsequent request for the same information. If you have the information we are attempting to gather, we highly suggest that you send it to us as this will expedite the processing of your claim.

I've seen this around this forum quite a bit. What it usually means is they are just waiting for you to separate and get your DD214 before they can begin payments. I would contact the VA hotline, VA Rep and/or your PEBLO for more specific info on your case. When I called the VA hotline they could tell me that my case was sent to the PEB on such and such date.(make sure you mention that you're still active and on a medboard/PEB)
 
Just called VA and they told me they have sent the rating to PEB yesterday and I should be hearing very soon from PEB/Peblo. So if it says "Requested separation documents" then your ratings are sent to PEB. It was day 125! Thank you StephenG.
 
Just wanted to inform people for future similar questions and close the thread. So My ratings were sent to PEB on 04/21/2014 and 04/30/2014-today I received my 199 with permanent retirement. So once your status is back to review of evidence you will have your 199 in max 3 weeks. Please hit me up for any questions. Thank you.

Did it go back to review of evidence before you received your 199 or did you get it while it was still at gathering evidence with the sep documents? Just wondering because VA didn't tell me much and my PEBLO said they don't see anything new. Thanks.

Where exactly would it show "Requested Separation Documents." My case went to Preparation for Decision to Pending Decision Approval yesterday, and today it says Gathering of Evidence. Would it show up on the Claim Status? Help please?
 
Ebenefits changed a little since this was first posted. If you click on the date of the claim it should bring you to a screen that shows the claim details. It should detail there that all they want is the DD214.

I'm posting this reply late to hopefully help any members that will "google" this and stumble upon this thread. StephenG is correct above. I am in the same situation right now and have found out that if your status went from "preparation for decision" back to "gathering of evidence" AND it says status- initial review complete it means your ratings portion is done and back at the PEB for the distro of your 199 and ratings. The "gathering of evidence" is the VA awaiting your DD214 once you separate.
