This poll is an effort to get some feedback on the recent changes. It is unlikely that I will revert back to the previous software/format. The point is to see what we are doing better and what improvements should be made.

It is also a chance for me to test the poll function with this software!

I'm getting the hang of using the new and improved format. Just would like a little more color variations outside of the shades of blue.

Is the blue the problem, or is it contrast? I had tried a red header lower boarder last night, but after a little while, my eyes hurt. What color variations would you like to see?

As I look at the site, parts can appear to be washed out....one other point, the site will display slightly differently on different browsers.

One thought I have Jason, is for example, under the service branch specific main header, is that different colors be used on the sub-headers to distinguish between Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and so on, so that the servicemember can easily see and locate their branch from the others. To my eyes, they all tend to blur together with the same color. Off-set or cascade tiles might work, too. Just something (branch symbol?) to make each branch or other sub-topic header "stick out" from other sub-topics for ease of quick location.

I like the What's New button! Saves a lot of time seaching for new questions, updates and responses.

I also like not having to put in all that extra security stuff I used to have to put in before I could get my search question answered. I sometimes had to input that gobbldee-gook 2 or 3 times before I got it right. Easier to use now for those who have visual acuity issues.

Thank-you for these new changes. Looks like this website format is off to a strong start and this will only get even better over time!

It looks like Star Trek. :D

Being able to post a reply without having to hit the Reply button first is great. I like the changes. One thing I've just noticed is, it's kind of hard to see the soft yellow smilies on the soft blue background in the posts.

The one thing that I am missing from before is on that initial page before it had a list of about 20 or so most recent threads. It was a great snap shot of what was new and didnt require looking around at a bunc of different areas to see was was new.

That is one of the things I wish I had back up now. But, that functionality was from a 3rd party developer. I am confident that after this software is out for a while, there will be an update and I can restore that. Until then, the "What's New Tab" is the built in solution.

Is it possible to put a "timer" drop down on the what's new button? So if I'm not on this web for 24 hours/48 hours, I can catch up on the posts I miss?

I am not sure. I think there is a default and that if you have cookies enabled, it should be drawing from what you have not seen since your last visit.

On another note, if everyone would look at the Home tab, I have enabled a Recent Comments widget (similar to the old what's new feature, but in the newer style/format. (A point of likely confusion, underneath, there is another Recent Comments widget for blogs. I am trying to see if I can change the names, but the developers have not yet published documentation on where to edit things and I don't want to mess around too much with this yet because some named conventions in the coding may impact other functions).

Some further input on the colors would be appreciated. Are the light blues and grays to light? I can't tell if it is easy on the eyes (which I think it is) but perhaps not enough contrast?

I have enabled an alternate style to work on some things. If you are interested, go to the bottom left corner of the page and, using the dropdown menu, select "vb4New". Currently, I have changed some button colors and have changed some of the text to black. Remember, those who let their preferences known are more likely to see them implemented (though, I can't please everyone and some things I will need to learn how to change).

Any graphics design gurus, feel free to give your 2 cents.

I appreciate the feedback! What I really am interested in hearing more about is from those folks who voted "I don't like it...." What about it don't you like from a functionality/design point of view? Some things are likely going to take some time to fix (I have noticed a problem with the photo albums, the attachments in the Download section is not working, and there may be other things I am missing). Some of this will be fixed in the next weeks and months as the third party developers update their products. But if there is something I am unaware of that you want addressed, please let me know. (Note, I think that I am going to migrate all files over to the Library in the Home tab; I know this is an important resource, I just need to find time to re-upload). Thanks, everyone, for hanging in there while I upgrade.

I like it more and more everytime I visit, thanks Jason, I think it'll take some getting used to for some, but in the long run, if people have patience, it will work better than before. As far as color, red, white, blue and gold.

Hi Jason!

I was gone from the site for four days. I don't know how to review the posts that occured during that time frame. I was able to get the past 24 hours worth, but couldn't figure out how to access the time frame just priot to that. Is there some sort of button you can add that can allow a reader to go back further than 24 hours?

the peb calculator doesn't work for me anymore? anyone else notice this or know how to get it to work? I am on a mac and tried both safari and firefox - just a blank page. thanks

It take some getting use to. If you can incooperate some of the old with the new it would be stellar! Ex. the newest post was what i looked at often.

I installed the most recent release (they are pushing them out fast). Included in this one is the "Sidebar" which you can see on the forum home page. This can contain different information, for now I have input newest threads. Also, if this annoys you, there are the arrows on the far left which will collapse the box.

I will get the calculator and perhaps the VA rates up in separate tabs at the top of each page (next to where the HOME, FORUM, WHAT'S NEW tabs are now).

Hello Jason!
I was MIA from this site for five days and noticed that I am now able to go back past 24 hours and catch up with the postings I missed from this five day period.
This is so much easier now.
Thanks!
