20 active year, medical retiree. 100% p&t, 60% combat related DoD/VA. Receive 3000 from DoD, 4200 from VA with an offset of $550. Pension is already tax free, crsc if chosen is not divisible in divorce, but what other benefit is there? I get the VA offset money or a portion of it back potentially? Thanks, and yes I can read, but the crsc information is muddied at best so please help a brother out.

If you are over 20 already and getting your pension tax free the only benefit is going to be the divorce part. You won’t ever get more money than your longevity percentage. I’m in the same boat. I just applied for CRSC because my pension wasn’t tax free.

I will say this.. if laws ever change and medical retirees can get their DOD medical retirement percentage then an already approved CRSC application might come into play for your benefit but currently the way the law is written it wouldn’t. You’d have to look into the Richard Star Act. Not passed probably won’t ever pass but if it ever did being an over 20 medical retiree with that law might allow you to get paid more money.

No other benefit. By law you can't get more than the combination of your VA compensation and your earned longevity pension.
