I actually got my orders four hours after my PEBLO notified me of the results of my SECAF appeal. Congrats on your med retirement!

Mine took 1 week to drop from the day I signed the 356 and my PEBLO scanned it in to AFPC.

USAFAVIATOR,

Did the local MPF cut your orders or did they come AFPC? Thanks again, gald to see everything worked out for you... GS-14!!!! Best wishes...

AFPC cuts the orders....you do not choose your final day. permissive leave is taken before that final date. usually you have 90 days from when you get the retirement order. at least this was my case

SERE/Aviator,
How long was the process from the time you were found "unfit"...hate that term...until you recieved your ratings and ultimately retirement? I just found out on 31 Jan that AFPC deemed me unfit. I'm hoping to be out the door by late Spring/early Summer but can't get a good gauge on timing. The IDES timeline is out the window thus far. I wish there were a small amount of certainty in this process. Been in quite a long time and this is one of the most confusing systems I've ever encountered. Thanks! Tim

Ivette, AFPC cut my orders and sent them electronically to my PEBLO. Outside of outprocessing, MPF played no role in anything for me throughout the process. Thanks for the kind words, I was lucky enough to have worked for/with people that care about people and helped me line this job up. Now, hopefully I can keep up through my disabilities and not let them down.:)

Cool...thanks for the quick hit. I'm always amazed at the difference in timelines. Looks like yours was fairly seamless compared to some on here. Mine seems to be rolling along but lately it is acting sluggish as I'm now anxious for completion. I've been in for 23 years (all active) and this is by far the longest yet. Cheers.

I was real proactive and forward throughout every stage of this process, sometimes to the point of having some pretty uncomfortable and confrontational conversations with certain orgs/people along the way to get answers and action. I have never been rude, just matter of fact and not accepting "I don't know" or the typical VA line "contact your PEBLO for updates" bs. This forum provided 90% of the info I needed (other member's experiences/tips/tricks, etc.) to make it as quick as possible and fair/accurate. The other 10% was determination. It sure is amazing how, after 23 years of service, you have to fight for what you have earned more after you become disabled than you did while your career was in full swing. I only made it to 19 years, but know exactly where you are coming from. The initial stages are pretty slow overall (in part because of all the red tape), but once you are found unfit, everything starts to fly.:)

How true...I'm not one for sitting around and waiting for someone else to manage my affairs. Doesn't sit well with me to know that other who hold the key to my future are sitting around and waiting for a computer to flag them into action. I find it funny (sarcastically of course) how we've become a society who is seemingly affraid to actually pick up a phone and talk to someone. Glad it worked out for you and congrats on your new position. Thanks also, for sticking around this site to help others!

Anyone know how my personal leave is calculated in the mix? Does AFPC do the math prior to setting the retirement date? Trying to work with my boss to get a replacement in and trained but timing is ify as I can't give him a clear site picture. I'm thinking that if I get my ratings ~30 days (10ish Mar), APFC will calculate 75 days personal leave, ~20 days permissve/house-hunting (what am I authorized)...so ~95 days from 10 Mar would be mid-June retirement??? Just need to know if I work leave or is it automatic? Thanks!

Oh, thanks Ivette, for starting this thread...learned a LOT in the last few days.
