As of right now I'm still planning on speaking with the Navy JAG out here in CA for further clarification... but for those seeking information regarding impending EAOS during the MEB/PEB process... you can voluntarily waive any compensation (i.e. severance or retirement pay) according to MILPERSMAN 1160-050 section 8.
I understand some have unique situations and would like to finish the process out and receive the benefits they're entitled to; however, some cases I've seen people have amazing job opportunities/college admissions/etc. lined up and just want to move on with life.
For example, giving up hypothetical $10K-15K severance pay (<30% DoD rating) and dealing with this nightmare of a process to attend a T14 law school and still get comp'd with VA disability once out seems like a rationale decision.
Anyone care to share their thoughts?
