PEB/VA ratings

I am active duty navy going through a medboard for MS. Signed narsum on September 8th and case was sent to Washington naval yards on september 14th. I received 30/90 proposed ratings about 3 weeks ago and just wondering if the PEB/VA are actually working together at the same time. I just spoke with the VA on the phone and she sounded clueless when I asked about the collatteral process with them and the DOD side. I'm sorry if this post doesn't make sense but just wanting to spark some conversation.

Hello,

Re: " I just spoke with the VA on the phone and she sounded clueless when I asked about the collateral process with them and the DOD side. "

If you were speaking with a customer service representative through the main VA telephone number, that person might not have expertise beyond the script he/she has been provided.

Some of the many members of this board who have been through the process will probably provide a more thorough explanation.

Good luck,
Ron
Hey Ron,

I have seen on here a couple of times people reporting that their case was closed and reopened on VA.gov. Does that mean I was found unfit by the PEB? My exams were completed Oct 12 and I signed my NARSUM/sent package to PEB on the 16th. That seems like a fast turnaround right?

Here is a pic of what my va site says

Hello @RVAroot

Unfortunately, I do not know. I had a regular retirement 30 years ago and did not experience the disability process. My expertise is primarily in finance and I often research certain matters. However, it is best you hear from folks who know the real deal in this case. I have tagged a few who can help.

@SFC H
@chaplaincharlie
@oddpedestrian
(there are many others)

Good luck,
Ron

How soon do I need to enroll in VA healthcare? I'm a few months from separation.

As soon as you have your DD214 or equivalent you can register with your local VAMC, ID cards are running about six weeks behind.

After you have registered, ask to see primary care provider (PCP) and tell them everything you need care for.

Hey RVAroot, did you ever find out what the open and close case meant on VA.gov?

It was answered on the previous page. first case closed is VA sending proposed ratings to DoD and to PEBLO. Second open case is awaiting your DD-214 so it can close and finalize pay, etc.
