PDRB Army Time Line

Good Morning everyone.

I am looking for someone who finished the PDRB process with the Army. To keep things short and to the point I submitted my packet over 3 years ago and I was told by the AF PDRB my packet was completed and sent to the Army. Based on my estimate I would guess my packet has been in the Army hands for maybe a month or two at most but not really sure. I did get confirmation from the Army indeed they have my file and are working on the final touches.

My question to the Army folks that have a fully completed packet how long after the Army received your packet did you get a official decision? I understand things are a little slower right now and I am OK with that since its been over 3 years so I have time. I do appreciate your time in answering my question since I am just looking to determine a average wait time.

Thank you in advance.

I am right there with you. Was submitted to the army in mid-march....

Same boat,
Submitted Packet May 2017
Sent to adjudication July 2019
Updated in Feb 2020 that the case was still pending with the Army DDA.
No answer on phone for Al-Army Contact, No response to email sent to USAF group.........Slowly losing hope and patience

Roughly the same boat here...

Submitted original pack: April 2018
Case met PDBR Board: 30 April 2020
Case Forwarded to Army Board: 13 May 2020

Received an email today from the Army stating "Your application is currently pending review by the staff of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) before presentation to the Board. Once the Board renders a decision and the final processing has been completed, you will be provided the decision document."

It seems that my case is running in the "average" timeline.

Does anyone have experience with the length of time it sits at the ABMCR before moving to the board?

do you have Al-Army’s Contact I had it at one point and can’t seem to find it now.Tia

Wldr66it,

The only number on here that I have found for him is 1-877-577-3065 or 1-703-695-5740. However, I've never spoken to him. However, there was a number I found on here once for an Army SFC (name escapes me). I was able to talk to him, but at the time my packet hadn't made it to him yet.

Just giving a 5 1/2 month check in. I still have not heard anything bout my case. I did see in the reading room my case number was skipped. Well I guess I will keep on waiting its the only thing I can do. I started the Process In the first quarter of 2017.

I submitted my application in March 2018. I was told by my attorneys that the board made a decision on my case and forwarded to the Army for final review in May 2020. I hope you hear something soon.

Just dropping by 7 months of my file being with the Army. I still have not heard anything for my case not a word. Case Circa 1st qtr. 2017... I will drop back by I a couple months lol.

I'm in the same boat as you. I was hoping to get my decision before Christmas but that's not looking like the case unfortunately.

I sent a email looking for a update. I was advised my case was finalized but did not say when as in calendar date. I just am not sure were my case was published since the reading room has not updated in several months. Not really sure what happens next in receiving the correspondence from the Army and if I was denied or approved. Anyone know the timeline on notifications after the branch made its determination? Anyway, 3 years 9 months is my time line and patients is a must. Any useful information is always welcome. Thanks in advance and Happy Holliday's.

Case file completed. Here are the details of the case. I was medical chaptered with a 0% rating but given severance pay in 2007. I went to the VA and they rated me at 10% since I received a severance pay they 10% was being withheld for repayment of the severance pay.

Moving forward I applied for the PDRB and I was awarded 10% from the Army. I did notice months ago my VA payment went up so I knew something had changed. I called the VA to ensure they were not overpaying so there would not be a issue down the road. The response I received from the VA was the severance pay has been repaid. Which is odd since the VA paperwork said it was going to take a long time to repay the severance pay. This leads me to the next question I have about the process.

1. Since I was awarded a severance pay and a 0% rating from the Army will I recouped the last 13 years of 10% being withheld for the repayment?

2. Will I receive any retirement from the Army or will I just get the amount in the VA compensation?

3. Are there any additional benefits for having a Army retirement rating? I do know 30% is the number for tricare just curious about a 10% rating.

Lastly, In full disclosure despite taking a really long time to get a final notification and a fair rating I am pleased with the outcome. I appreciate everyone's time and any information about the 3 items I asked about would be great. If you are in the process hang in there for the long haul.

Hi did my packet in March 2017. I haven’t heard anything. Early this year it was with the Army and has been for months. They said a decision was made and I should be hearing from the Army by August, then September now they said end of year. I wish I at least got corresponds from the Army.

Hello, in response to an ARMY timeline here is mine...over 3 years.

Applied: 22 May 2018 (via Email)
Received email informing me it was received: 09 Nov 2018
I emailed to check status: 25 Feb 2019
Received response: 01 Mar 2019 (Told it was in records collection phase. Waiting on VA records)

Totally forgot about it/put it out of my mind...

Received letter letting me know it was approved: 25 Feb 2021

Interesting to note that the PDBR date on form recommending 30% was signed 01 May 2020 and approved by ARMY on 29 Oct 2020.

A little backstory: I went through MEB and discharged in June 2004. Only reason I applied for review was because I never understood why DOD gave me 10% at MEB and VA gave me 40% for same conditions (back and both hips). I never understood it and was told it didn't matter by an unhelpful person while processing out so that was that. When I got letter about review I asked a friend who was retired ARMY and she said not to bother...to leave it alone. Almost a year later I decided to chance it. Seemed pretty clear there was something odd as both ratings stemmed from the same exam done in Feb 2004. DOD gave me 10% for back and 0% for hips. VA gave me 20% for back and 10% for EACH hip. I was prepared for them to say no, take your 10% and go. Never expected $ as I'm now 90% through VA and AD time was only 4 yrs. Glad I did it. At least for the healthcare as I'm at a job I hate just for the health insurance for my children, lol, but I'm thankful it was corrected.

As I just got decision I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Guess I'll just wait until they tell me something actionable.

If you don't mind, how did you get a copy of the PDBR recommendation?

10% isn’t a retirement it’s still a medical separation. 30% is where it becomes a retirement. Sounds like the difference that was owed to you was applied to your recoupment thus making you debt free. I’ve never heard of 10% retirement.
