New here wish I had found this place before filing my PDBR paperwork. I filed my PDBR in July 2013
Air Force PEB was 2003 medically separated with 19%, 10% for IBS and 10% CFS. Gulf War related issues. Line-Of Duty in time of war but not listed as Direct Result. This was an Appeal Item for my PEB. I was offered severance (~5yrs total points for active duty E-6) but did not take it as I had my 20yr letter from the Guard and it was a better deal if I live 6-7yrs after retirement, I do not actually retire till 2025 so I have not collected any $$$'s yet.
Filed VA claim 2003 day after discharge and has taken 10 years to get my final determinations. Initially was given 40% CFS and 10% IBS. I filed appeal for 30% IBS and was awarded this after an In-person hearing (2009) back to 2003. So I am now 40% and 30% VA to 2003 for same conditions I was 10 & 10 for PEB 2003.
I also have listed on my PEB Sleep Apnea and it was rated as "Catagory II - Can be unfitting but not currently compensable". Mil doctors found my sleep apnea at Walter Reed AMC. VA Has rated my sleep apnea at 50% service connected within the 1 year time frame of my discharge but not sure if the PDBR will review that also?.
I requested the PDBR review all items I had on my original MEB and PEB appeals, will the PDBR review and take my original appeals into consideration? They all relate to my MEB/PEB items. I filied all my own paperwork with the PDBR and pretty much am leaving it up to my VA records to speak for me as compared to my PEB outcome. I'm currently 80% for the same conditions as my PEB combined rating of 19%.
I have had quite the battle to this point with the VA so this process was smoothing sailing so far and not really much one can do other than wait . . . . all in all I feel pretty good about my chances but who knows?
Thanks for listening, Bruce
PS Just had another VA hearing 1-1/2 months ago and awaiting the outcome of that but it was not a PEB listed item so has no bearing on the PDBR so I filed my paperwork instead of waiting for a final outcome. Also on VA appeal is my Sleep Apnea to my initial 2003 filing date but it was rated within the 1 year discharge time-frame so I just filed the PDBR, 10 years dealing with the VA GETS OLD!
