I got a med board in Jan of 08 for right hip stress fracture and got severance pay of 11k. 0% from DoD upon separation. Fast forward to 2015 filed for an increase and got 40% from VA for hip 10% and 30% for migraine headaches. Received paperwork from PDBR in May. I filled out the paperwork and returned it asap. They received it April 12 and on September 23 received an email that my paperwork just got forwarded for adjudication. What happens now and how long does this process usually take. I'm so excited and I hope I get retirement from this process.

Thanks I am prepared to wait even though I don't want to. We all know to well how slow these processes can take. It has been 5 months already so I know I can have anywhere from a couple of months to a year or so to wait. Thanks for the support
The truth is, the process is different for us all. It seems to me your application has gone more swiftly than most. If your case is in adjudication it probably won't be for much longer. Mine started January and ended in August. It's with my branch of service for final review. I was told when I emailed the PDBR that the turn around for my branch is only two months. So I'm looking to hear the final result soon.
Just keep emailing them every few months and you'll be fine. I know I sent at least 40-50 emails over the last two years. Lol

I really hope I only have to wait a couple of months. The last time I emailed the PDRB I was told to only email about 4 months apart because they have a major back log. I was under the impression that this was a process that only a few people were actually taken part of. But after being on this site I see that information seems to be incorrect. Do you know what percent of cases actually end in medical retirement? Thanks for the reply.
YES it is true that this process isn't open to EVERYONE however the amount of people who qualify for a review is 77,000. Of that number a very small percentage has applied. The process was going quickly, and about 50% of all cases submitted had been approved until two or three years ago. Now, I'm not sure of the percentage but it's less than 50. I think less than 10% of the people who are eligible have applied.
And yes every four months is what they ask. I was just really impatient. I wouldn't have known my adjudication was over and forwarded to the Navy if I didn't email so much.
I am a little worried because I just got my VA percentage in 2015 and if they judge your case based on the your discharge to a year out I probably wont get an increase. It took 7 years of back and forth with the VA to get that. But I went from a 0% to 40% so maybe there's hope. I'll keep my fingers crossed and pray that this goes my way seeing as though I have a year to a year in a half to wait and boy do I hate the hurry up and wait situation dealing with these processes.
Don't worry about your VA, things will be much better if you get retirement. You don't have to pay back the VA you're getting now, just any severance you got when you got out if any. It's a win win situation. You're getting VA now and if approved you'll get which ever is more. And you can file to receive a portion of both I was told when I called the VA. I forget what it's calked but it takes like 6 months to be approved.
Anyway you'll be fine. You never know what God will do. Maybe they'll hire more people to go through our records and the process will speed up somehow you never know.

I do know this for a fact... If you got 0% from your branch of service and the VA awarded you 40% FOR THE SAME disabilities, there is a greater chance you'll receive an increase from the PDBR. I've read tons of things regarding this.
The ratings our branch of service did not match the ratings veterans affairs we're handing out when Congress decided to compare the two. They learned that the branchs were giving lower ratings so they wouldn't have to give out retirement to make the cost of war appear lower than what it really was.
Once this was discovered, they created the PDBR to rectify the issue. I got 10% for my feet after having both feet and Achilles tendons reconstructed. I got 10% for my back. And something else as well I think. I ended up with an overall of 20% when I was separated. The VA however awarded me 30% just for my feet, and 10% back... If you added up my other issues I'd have 180% lol! However the combined rating they gave me is 90%.
Ive read the higher your percentage is with the VA the more of a likelihood it is that you may get an increase. We're all hoping for a life change. I know I am. I've been struggling very hard to keep things afloat. I've had six surgeries... Four in service. I'm just tired. This retirement would let me rest for a good long while.

When I've sent in claims paperwork with an outside, 3rd party, doctors letter in support of conditions the claim was decided quickly and in my favor.
Claims without a 3rd party opinion were declined.
Looks like your paperwork is already in, so, submitting new docs may delay your claim, but, just wanted to offer that info to you. Best of luck.

Thanks for information I don't have a civilian doctor but I may find one for a second opinion seeing as though this process is lengthy. So a delay in an answer is the least of my worries since I know that I won't hear anything for a while anyways. Thanks for the info.

Reading your post gives me more hope. I was separated with 0%...and got 90% with VA 6 months after separation. I always thought .."something has to be wrong here"...then this PDBR body was created. It'll be 2 years since I've submitted my application... I've been emailing them every 4 months... Will email them again tomorrow. From 0% to 90% there's quite a gap, Don't you think?....I hope I get at least the 30%...that's all we need.

Yes I got retirement two weeks ago or so. I'm still completing the process though. And if you're getting VA there might be a chance that you won't get any retro pay which sucks... But I'm not sure yet what's going to happen. They always fund a way to screw us. Always!
