It's been a lengthy process thus far. I've been in and out of the hospital since the end of last year in December.

I've been diagnosed with Bi-Polar Disorder 1 w/psychotic features severe, alcohol use disorder severe.

The NARSUM was submitted the first week of June. I received word from my PEBLO last wk 4JUL16 that the IRILO have elected for full MEB.

I've been given the choice between LDES and IDES. I don't see a benefit for one over the other except for speed of discharge.

I meet with the VA MSC 14JUL16.

Wish me well, I'm still not sure what I'll elect, but have reached out to the OAC as directed. I was told to do this because they are required to brief you if you choose LDES.

Does anyone here have experience with it?

I didn't end up meeting with the VA MSC on the 14th because apparently when you choose LDES, that isn't the next step.

They said they've never processed an LDES case, so this is new for them too.

I'll keep y'all posted on the process and speed of which events occur, just in case someone else wants to go LDES.

The OAC contacted me and I'll have my briefing and papers signed by the Attourney Monday 18JUL16.

Next the PEBLO signs and then the MDG/CC signs. Papers then head to AFPC for orders.

Good luck with LDES. You may get out quicker and not have to deal with as much queep at work while going through the MEB, but I don't know how dealing with the VA is going to be once you're out since so many things are easier to deal with while being AD. I'm not dogging on your decision though- everyone has their reasons to choose. We had a guy in my TAPs class that is LDES and has no idea what's going on or how to initiate additional claims with the VA for his stuff- stay on top of your case and best of luck to you bro.

Thanks for your advice. I've enlisted the assistance of the wounded warrior program and also the DAV. Hopefully they help make it a little easier for me.

How did you get the WWP and DAV to assist? I have never heard of them being used during the MEB. Also what services are they offering you?

She came over from Tampa. She services two military installations.

She is helping me with transition planning. Being that I elected to go with LDES and the process should go through quickly. She's helping me prepare the necessary documents and whatnot to get into the VA quickly for processing.

I'm going to be unable to work as well, so they are helping with SSDI documentation.

She's offered other aspects of the WWP, but I don't think I'm able to get involved with it at this time.

Papers were to the PEB on 19JUL16

Today I received my rating. They are giving me the 10 days to either sign or appeal. I was told to expect another 2 weeks for orders.

Ok what your ratings?

Permanent Retirement at 50%

Being that I chose to do LDES, I wasn't able to use my one time reconsideration yet because the VA hasn't rated yet. I will have to wait for my orders to be able to file my claim with them and receive their rate. They said that the VA usually rates higher and rates all conditions, so I'm pretty content with the rate. My psychiatrist and therapist are writing an addendum to help me out, they both thought the DoD would have rated higher.

Congrats! I signed and am waiting for order too. I am on day 7 for orders...I am getting antsy already to get out of here and start my terminal...

I received my orders two days ago now 8AUG16, and have a DOS of 27SEP.

Seems like a short period of time to out-process and what not, but what do I know.

I got my orders yesterday- projected ETS 27 November

The doctors are fighting my orders and they are fighting for me to be able to appeal my ratings. I'm awaiting further information.

I've never heard of someone not appearing before the board for a FPEB, but I assume it can happen. I'm worried that in my condition it could cause another episode, which already causes greater sleeping issues and anxiety.

Orders Revoked 19AUG.

OAC contacted me and suggested that I be ready to have evidence ready for an advanced adjudication request.

Still waiting for further word, but the appeal was approved at least and that's a good thing.

19OCT16 - The Advanced Adjudication Request worked out. The board ruled in my favour for - DoD permanent 70%. I'm still waiting on my VA rating, but won't even be able to begin that part of the process until I've received my DD214.

Still waiting on orders, I was told it should take another week to two weeks before AFPC chops those.

World's worst game of telephone and I don't know who will contact me next or tell me I have orders.

Apparently since an 1180 was never signed immediately after receiving my rating on 19OCT, I had to have one submitted on 4NOV. I have no idea who that went to though and I don't know who is supposed to contact me about orders next, my OAC or AFPC will be contacting PEBLO, which will contact me?

Does anyone know the steps after a FPEB has taken place?

The IPEB received my paperwork back from the FPEB on 7NOV with my decision of 70%. I've received my orders as of 25NOV, so the delay is roughly 3 weeks as they've been saying.

Final out 29JAN17.

Congrats on rating.
