OPORD 11-21 MEB Surge Processing

Well, I found out very little on this so far. My MEB packet was at Ft Leonard Wood for over 3 months and they never assiged a PEBLO to me or got anything started. I just found out that my packet is now being sent to Pinellas Park, Florida under this new "MEB Surge Processing". Apparently, it's for Army National Guard Soldiers. Nobody seems to know anything about it. The Patient Affairs person that I talked to at Ft Wood said that she doesn't know anything except that this OPORD came from "higher up" and that she mailed my packet to FL last week. She thinks (but isn't sure) that Florida will review the packets to see who is fit for duty and if your not, then the packet will be sent back to Ft Wood and the MEB process will then begin. It just doesn't make sense to me. I've already had a Chapter 3 Physical (Fit for Duty) and was found unfit. Does anybody have ANY information on this? I've been going through this process for over 2 years and I'm about at the end of my rope!

There is a new program called MAR2, which replaced the MMRB, and that may have something to do with it? FLW is one of the pilot installations, but the program has been fully implemented. I am in the Guard and we are doing it now instead of the MMRB. Under the new IDES program, National Guard and Reserve med board packets are being sent to the Reserve Components Soldier Medical Support Center in Pinellas Park, FL. This center compiles all of the documents needed for your MEB prior to sending them as a complete packet to the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). They are really performing a pre-MTF/MEB function that ensures all of your documents are in the packet so the MTF that oversees your MEB processing can save time. While your records are there, you will be assigned a Case Manager and PEBLO. Your packet may not be sent back to Ft. Leonard Wood but could be sent to an MTF co-located with a VA facility such as at Ft. Gordon, GA. Once the MTF receives your packet, you will be assigned to a new PEBLO.

Anyone else have any experience going through the new Integrated Disability Evaluation System at Pinellas Park, FL? How long did it take from time packet got there to make the appt to go to the MTF and how backlogged was the appt scheduled? Did they JUST inform u of an appt date or try to work with you on an appt date? Likely that the appt will be during the week and not the weekend??

Gomez stated you will be assigned a Case Manager and PEBLO while records are there as well? Is that correct?

According to RC-SMSC, my packet was received on May 25, 2011. They have not even started the validation process for me. I was informed last week that my ETS is coming up in Dec. and that the RC-SMSC wanted to make sure that my unit would be medically extending me. Only took them 3 months to let me know about that. And this is supposed to be faster?
 
While my records were at Pinellas Park, I was assigned a temporary PEBLO there. After Pinellas Park finished with my records, it took about 2 months before I was briefed by the Ft. Stewart PEBLO via phone then it took another month to get my VA appointments scheduled. They informed me of the appointment dates. I've done all of my briefing and forms via phone, FedEx and email. I haven't seen PEBLO, the MSC or anyone at the MTF in person.
