New to the process

Hey all,

After 12 Years in the Army, 3 years fighting the MEB process, convincing my PCM and Orthopedic surgeon that I can do fine with a P2 profile, I finally decided that My back is not getting any better. 8 bulging Discs, 2 herniated, and one sequestered, alone with all the great nerve pain that extends down my leg. My Ortho Dr. Just submitted my P3 yesterday 01DEC16 which is now a permanent Profile one day later. I received a call from the MEB office to collect some Admin data and was informed that I would be contacted soon my a PEBLO. It is slightly nerve racking that my career, which started out as a 4 year stint just because I wanted to do something different, is coming to a close. I am hoping that the process goes smoothly and am grateful of all the information that is found on this FORUM.

From an U.S. Army perspective, I received a telephone call from my assigned PEBLO within one week of receiving the P3/L3 Army permanent profile. Take care!

Looks like there is some movement, my P3 Profile has been Signed and is now Valid, hoping to hear from a PEBLO soon, Hate being in Limbo.

Turns out the Supervising official that approved my P3 is the Director of the MEB section at Ft. Gordon....I think that's a good thing....Also, I noticed in IDES is states I don't have an open Case, I'm assuming that the case will open once I hear from a PEBLO

So its now going on 3 weeks and I haven't heard from a PEBLO yet....Im wondering if I should make a few phone calls to see what is going on, or give it a bit more time, don't want to start stepping on toes.....any advice?

I had a email from my PEBLO in my inbox the same day my P3 was issued.
 
Well, I'm supposed to have a Teleconference with my PEBLO tomorrow for the initial meeting, PEBLO is at Ft, Gordon, I'm at Hunter, Spine surgeon is at Gordon, so P3 was submitted there.....but my PCM expired and resubmitted my P3 so Hunter will manage my MEB......so once again it seems that I am waiting......
 
I got 2 P3s and 2 L3s back in March and I didn't hear from a PEBLO until October. You're doing much better than I was :)
 
Checked my IDES just for the jolly's of it this morning, and I am now in it, yesterday it showed no open case.....so It seems to be moving forward, I have a teleconference with my PEBLO in about 20 min.....

Looks like I am hitting the same "You're a dirt bag for getting an MEB" that others have ran into. I sat down with my BN commander, I am a Staff Primary, yesterday for what I thought would be a discussion of how to fill my position in the interim to the BN getting another 25A to back fill my position. Instead he had a UQR that the S1 had drafted for him since I wanted to Quit. After a lengthy discussion of how it was not my intention to, as he put it, sit in a corner and get paid, I told him that my intentions were to ensure that there was nothing dropped since my focus will eventually become more and more focused on my MEB. Then he told me to keep it as a souvenir.....How kind of him.

I have served my country honorably for 12 years now both on the Enlisted and Commissioned side of the house, and it blows my mind that regardless of service and rank, soldiers are continually treated like dirt because they are choosing, or sometimes told, that continued military service is not the best for them...in my case because of a pretty severe medical issue. And folks wonder why good soldiers are choosing not to be career....

On a lighter note, my MEB is moving forward and I have a telephonic meeting with a MEB DOC tomorrow morning, only 2 days behind the schedule according to IDES.

This kind of attitude against junior officers is rampant. I was an O3E selected for promotion to O4 and while I didn't get accused of wanting to get paid to sit in the corner, I got a shitty final oer (after ten stellar ones in a row). I had issues walking due to neurological problems and I was told because I PCS'd into the comnabdnwith said neuro issues that I wasn't trustworthy. Nobody asked me about medical issues and I guess I didn't read minds and tell them even when they weren't asking.

I know the feeling and it's like you doing the right thing you get punished I was in the same situation and I feel for you. A very important person in my life I told me that the military it's just there for a moment and you are technically a number. Once your timeline you'll be forgotten and things will continue to move forward but yet all the Blood Sweat and Tears that you've given will be not compared and will be completely forgotten. I'm not sure who you were and it is but my unit was the same I was one of the few that actually deployed at the actually got to do my job as a field artillery officer I managed and maintained security for the whole Providence and my record was Stellar like yours whenever I finally got to a point where I was being medically Med boarded LifeWay hours diminished somehow. Your unit my unit and every Soldier in the military goes through some type of separation and we can only hope that the leadership begins to look at appreciate and change their ways to help support mentor and develop all soldiers regardless of what processor and to be the best that they can be for as long as they can be.
 
The process is quite nerve-racking but you need to make sure that you list every single thing that has been wrong with you regardless of how long it's been. You also need to ensure that whenever you go to your c&p exam that you remember how severe and painful everything is your back will be judged and rated on a range of motion I would suggest you look at that and then in turn make sure you know where your rated when you walk into CMP exam amongst other things. Military will get one over on you if you do not watch what you doing

I'm prepared for a difficult road ahead, at least from my BN CDR....Hopefully it wont be too difficult.

Looks like things are finally on track, once the powers that be between Ft. Stewart and Ft. Gordon figured out who was running my case. I in-processed the MEB yesterday finally, and have my first VA Appointment tomorrow morning, where I list out everything that I am claiming. I'm not trying to one over the Army, so I am only claiming things that are bothering me, and that I have been seen for. My VA Calculator estimates that I should be around 80% from the VA, but we will see. Any tips or advice would be welcomed.
