NEW TO MEB PROCESS

I am new to all this. I have just recently been recommended for MEB. I have been reading as many posts as I can on this. What is TDRL? What is CRSC? Am I allowed to get army medical retirement and VA?

I'm an Air Force Reservist who was doing active time. I had an L.O.D. and I was just put on TDRL in Oct. I've learned a lot from these folks here.

Is your MEB coming from you doing Active time or did you get an L.O.D. on UTA, Annual Tour or something?

My case was started through Active Duty, approved through Reserves ( : and then finished up with Active Duty. Reserves has to dot i's and cross t's....

I am new to all of this as well. I am a active duty Marine stationed at Marine Corps Recruiting Salt Lake City Utah with 2 Combat tours to Iraq. I have been found not fit for duty due to PTSD and L.O.D and the Air Force did my MEB but now have to go to Balboa Naval Hospital for a PEB I don't understand what is going on can anyone help me they say I may have to do this crap all over again. Why? Isn't what the Air Force did good enough? Shouldn't all I have to do is wait for a rating?

Welcome! I tend to think what happened is that you were sent to an MEB, conducted by the AF, which found that you did not meet retention standards and should be processed at a PEB. This MEB would have been forwarded to Navy Council of Review Boards and the IPEB. Somewhere along the way, what likely happened is that someone thought the MEB was deficient and so returned the case and directed a new MEB at Balboa. There are provisions for cross service MEB's, but the PEB/HQ's can always return a case as deficient.

Remember, the PEB still has to make a fitness determination before deciding if you are going to be rated or returned to duty.

I’m sad to say it’s common for services to get an MEB conducted by a sister service MTF and just redo the board v.s. working together to get whatever information or formatting is needed.

If you don’t mind me asking how was the PEBLO at Hill? I heard a retired E-8 I served with a few years ago took the job. He was a really stand up guy then, I thought/hoped he would make a good liaison.
