Back story

Had a full knee replacement (ACL PCL Meniscus and other) back in 2019
Get a call to see my surgeon/ortho in 2022 to do another check up. He states either i get injections for the rest of my career, get surgery again or medboard.
Chose MEB, met with my new PCM (ITCOT) he’s an actual certified doctor and he says my doc wrote good notes and said he approves MEB

Timeline

Around 21JAN22 MEB Referral with P3 profile
27JAN do paperwork to get assigned a PEBLO

Currently waiting on PEBLO called and they said latest this Wednesday
I got moved to a new company to do a different job. New commander is tracking the situation. Question is when i do this NARSUM with him since it was prefilled by old commander does his word have any say so on decision?

Also what makes you considered “unfit”

Sorry for the basic questions just don’t know what to do since i got a new job, but i know if/when i PCS i cant do my Job

So the impact statement is what you are referring to. There isn't a need to get a new one. Now if the current one isn't very good you could ask your new company commander to fill out a new one highlighting other conditions that you may want to try to get added for unfitting. Otherwise you are all good. The NARSUM is by doctors basically summarizing all of your medical conditions and breaking down which conditions do not meet medical retention standards. The NARSUM comes shortly after you finish all of your C&P exams with the VA or VA contractors.

Also, there is unfit due to medical retention standards but the ultimate way unfit is determined is if that condition prevents you from doing your job in the Army. That makes it unique since each MOS has different requirements. What makes a condition unfitting for an Infantry person may not be unfitting for a tech support person.

Thank you
So I’m a 89A/B (due to promotable) so ammo

I’m just new to this process and we got 2 MEB physicians that covers half of Germany.

I know people who been doing this process for a year to year and a half and I’m like how

I’m in germany as well, it’s not too bad here , I started dec 6 2021 , Today my package was sent to PEB . Peblo says it should be 2-3 months to finalize everything from now . (Of course if PEB finds me unfit for duty )

You lucky. Im still waiting to be assigned a PEBLO. I’m pretty sure you will get your unfit status i havent seen anyone get retained besides the people who want to stay in.

What is the VA appointments like or the exams?
Do you have to travel far in Germany for appointments?

Based on your claim conditions, you’ll be scheduled an appointment with the appropriate doctor . Example: BH= psychiatrist, vision = ophthalmologists.
on my case , my doctors weren’t to far out, the further I ever went was 45 min away.

It did take a long time for me to get my p3 and a Peblo. my PCM told me he was going to start MEB 01november2021 but it wasn’t approved until Dec3 . And that’s when I got the call from the Peblo and va and the ball started rolling .
