New ratings not being paid?

I received a 50% rating September 20th and started school in the same month.

Does anyone know if there are any pay problems due to the shutdown and when they will be resolved?

I received a book stipend and monthly per diem for 911 GI Bill but the tuition has not been paid?

I have not received my first compensation payment, which I thought was suppose to start October 1st.

Any idea how long it takes for the 19-20 months backpay to kick in? I was in the Air Force and was told they had to verify I didn't owe any money after getting out? How long does that process take?

Thank you.

When exactly was your actual seperation date? Not the day you started terminal leave, the day it ended and you were officially a veteran? Why do you think you should get 20 months of backpay? If you were active duty, your claim will be backdated to the date of separation mentioned above. Also you should note that if you went through active duty IDES (MEB/PEB), you do not have final ratings, you have proposed ratings. It will take a few months before you have final ratings. Once you have final ratings, the VA will first back pay for anything back to the date of separation. Approx one month later, you will get your first compensation payment.

Did you get retired by the AF? If so, your first retirement check would be 1 Nov assuming you were done with terminal and out on the 20th.

Sorry ranger I'll list all of my dates.

Retired with 20 years 1 month of service on 31 October 2010.
Recieved my first retirement check 1 December 2010.
Submitted my claim for compensation on 29 February 2012.
Claim letter received 20 Sep 2013 with a 50% rating.
The 20 months is what i figured from the date the claim was made in Feb 2012 to Oct 2013.
Under Ebenefits it says I supposed to get $810 direct deposited (yes I set it up) into my checking account.

What is odd is I received $960 for perdiem for 911 GI Bill but they never paid the $5,500 in tuition and fees yet?

They also have me listed as single even though I filed married with dependents...so there are a couple issues here.

Ebenefits shows the 50% rating and amount I was supposed to be receiving.

I did not file for over a year after I was retired and was told I would be paid back to when I filed.

Also I was told that the VA has to send my paperwork to the AF to determine if I owe them any money before I get VA payments?

Just got off the phone with the VA.

Apparently the backpay issue has been resolved (yay) and payment has been approved, but it is for the single, no dependents rate.

I just have to get the dependency issue resolved now and they will recalculate and send the rest.

Hopefully looks like things are starting to work out.
