New EAS timelines

I've recently seen a guy Med Sep'd EAS posted in Dec for 28 Feb, he had about 45 days on the books. Perhaps having
< 30 days you auto default to the EAS at the end of next month.
Perhaps you can ask via Career Planner via MMSR-4 if you need more time. 30 days is a blip on the radar.
The PLD option is there if you have justification for more than 90 day request as well.

The election of options states "(for UNFIT Navy Members only) I request my separation/retirement date be on _____. Requested date must be no less than 30 days, but not more than 90 days from the day, I receive notice of my PEB findings."

Not likely. I am currently fighting an uphill battle with this. I have 52 leave days on the books and 20 days PTAD that I can take. HQMC screwed up calculating my actual EAS and it is set for April 29, 2016, should be for June as I distinctly put on my PEB ratings paper that I wanted to take all my leave and PTAD. I called HQMC and they said "just have your Career Planner shoot us an email with so and so CC'd and we will adjust it accordingly." Well my Career planner called to find out where to send the email and HQMC told him that I had to complete an extension package which involved me getting signatures of every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the unit. Now here I sit one week after I submitted that package (it was sat on by my command for nearly 2 weeks) and still no answer of whether it will be approved or denied. So essentially if it get denied I will have to sell back all my leave and not get any type of PTAD. HQMC says too bad so sad. Complete bullshit especially when my command has done nothing but jerk me around this entire process and sit on paperwork only to delay my ability to take leave. I will be requesting mass soon if this continues. I hope you all have a better experience.

@jsigler08 you can always go the IG route rather than request mast if you feel that the command doesn't want to play fair. The IG being a separate chain sometimes gets much better results and, as stated before, you need not worry at this point about burning bridges!

That sucks. I just got the call sayings my findings are in and I have an appointment tomorrow to sign. Couldn't tell me anymore. I have 32 days of leave

Im hoping this is the week for myself as well! Tomorrow will be 30 days since the VA sent my ratings back to the PEB. *Fingers Crossed*

@USDevilDawgMC , same here... I'm on like day 41
@BB454, what was your day count as of yesterday?

Yesterday when I got the call was 28 days when the PEB accepted my ratings. now the VA may have sent them on 25 Feb, but the PEB didn't accept them until 29 Feb. 2 more hours and I will get to review everything. Wheres the fast forward button haha.

Super excited for you, BB. Let us know how it goes.

So why can't you request to separate immediately if you have all of your checkout process completed? I am just curious because I think I will probably be signing my findings this week or next, which would make 30 days past the end of April, which means I suspect that they'll make my EAS the end of May. I want to try to get out of dodge NLT the end of April, so do I have any options? It would suck to get screw out of an end of April EAS just because I signed next week vs. this week.

Hmmm.. How do you get unfit at DOD 0%? doesn't sound legit does it?

The DOD doesn't always follow the VA ratings for the unfitting condition. The VA rated my unfitting condition at 30%. This process has mentally drained me and my family Im done. I have no more fight left Im just looking forward to getting rid of this shit already. Gave 8 years to this gun club and the birds at the PEB give me 0. at least I will be getting paid by the VA. 1stCivDiv here I come.

@BB454, I know that's a butt stroke to the groin but please take that over to the lawyers before you sign. If the VA rated that condition at 30% then it should be a no brainer. DOD and VA are supposed to use the same rating standards and they SHOULD match for the condition. Having them be different is a red star cluster, at least in my opinion.. and I thought that that practice had been rectified.
Did they find that the condition was not in the line of duty of something like that? maybe @gsfowler or one of the other supers could chime in on this one!

Unfortunately it can happen. I was rated at 0% for my initial referred condition.

Yeah thats strange but remember they can also find you fit if you ask for a reconsideration. Sounds like the DOD isn't really sure about your unfitting condition. So I would take it and run, don't want to chance it. But im not a lawyer and Im just passing alot info that I have got from the fourms.

@denmom117 Did the VA and DOD rate the unfitting condition the same % or were they different for your case?

Some corpsman put in their notes (which wasn't on the NARSUM) that my unfitting condition was prior service. so because of that asshole the PEB didn't give me 30%. I know this will be the last time I screwed over by the Corps.... And yes if I ask for a reconsideration they can come back and say well now you FIT and in 6 months I wont get anything but the VA, because my original EAS is in 6 months and I can't extend to have a look for promotion so once again its the green weenie coming around. Good luck to everyone else I hope yall have better outcomes.

@CWOUSMC they both rated my referred condition as 0%. That's why I have applied for a VARR.
