Need some advice, got my 199

In retrospect...

Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) is a joint DoVA and DoD Initiative. BDD is a time-sensitive process. To receive your DoVA disability benefits within the goal of 60 days following separation, you MUST submit your claim 60 to 180 days prior to your release or retirement from active duty. This time is needed to complete your medical examinations before you leave your point of separation.

If the service member is closer than 60 days to separation from service, you can submit a Quick Start claim. It's best to contact the DoVA to learn more about the Quick Start claim process.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Very true that it must be filed a minimum of 60 days prior to discharge... In my case I only found out about a BDD claim on the way to my separation briefing and formal signing out at Ft Knox. After I signed out I completed my paperwork with the VA Claims and Compensation Office (on base) in about a 4-5 hour sit down and hand recited my DOD medical files over to them prior to starting 90 days of terminal leave. I also had to agree to complete my C&P Exams in the Louisville, KY which meant returning twice (6-7 hour drive each way on my on nickel) to make it work. I agreed, I returned, I paid the related costs out of my pocket. It worked, I received my ratings in about 14 weeks and I'm glad It did. I was lucky I discovered the BBD claim process, I was lucky I was going on 90 days terminal leave and I was lucky I could afford the money to spend on returning for my C&P exams.

Im confused...i thought you got the (for example) 1500 a month for my 80% disabilty...plus the Severance check from the army because i was rated below 30% DOD side....am i wrong?
