To anyone out there. I'm going to sign my 199 today. I know that transition will be informed and I will get orders NLT 90 days till exit. How do I go about adjusting that to say 80 days? What are the steps? Is this even possible? I've heard that you can adjust the date. You just can't stay in longer then the 90 days. I have 40 days terminal leave and 20 days PTDY. I would like just to have ten days to clear then start terminal leave. Thank you to all those out here answering question!
 
I’m in the navy and I also had a question about choosing your out date so I called Pers to verify the max days you can choose for your out date. Pers reply was a max of 60 days from the date of acceptance of your PEB findings. Unless you submit for PLIMDU till your EAOS but it’s a request and not a sure thing.
 
It may vary by post, but you'll most likely need a 4187 to adjust your orders along with a few things that the transition office will require for your packet to be completed. At Fort Bragg it's your Approved Physical Disability Information Report, DA 4187, Medical Counseling Form, DA 31, ERB, and DA 201(SGLV, enlistment contract, DA93, any DD214's from previous enlistments, and any re-enlistment contracts). Again, it likely varies from post to post, but the DA 4187 should be fairly standard as it's a change to orders.

Once PDA receives and processes your PEB packet, the will transmit a release memo to transition. That memo will contain a "no-later-than"-date, usually 90 days from the date you signed your 199 or when they received your packet. When Transproc (also known as Transition Processing Point) get your name on a list of soldiers whose release memo's are ready, they will call you in, to discuss your orders and separation date. Your separation date is affected by whether you will take any leave (to include PTDY) and whether you just want enough days to clear and be gone. So, yes, you can do it in 80 days. It is easier to lessen the days than to go past the 90-day timeframe; If it happens that your 90-day timeframe is affected by delays at your installation or at PDA, and you end up with less days, you may be forced to sell some leave days, to ensure that you separate before that 90-day deadline.

What happens if my new ets date after a 6 month extension is like 40 days away, and still waiting on my separation message. Will the 90 day window increase my ets so I can take ptdy and terminal leave, or will I have to be out by my ets date ?
 
how long after you sign your 199 does it take to get the orders? and can I just request to leave immediately once clearing?
 
Can someone please help me with a sample 4187 for extending the No Later than date?

You need to get an extension to match your NLT date.

I applied for a 30 day extension to use my terniminal leave and was denied. This happens often, as they do not want to pay the extra BAH/BAS, a extra month of pay, ect.

I am assuming you are retiring, not separating- due to that approved PTDY. Remember to use the term RETIREMENT date, not separation date or personel office, TMO, and other venues might try to deny benefits, as they are different between the two.
