National guard medical retirement pay form a combat related problem

I am in the begging stages of going through the MEB process. As of now it looks like I will end up with a PTSD rating of at least 70% form the VA, which is the reason for the MEB. After all the other issues I have I will most likely be at 100% but at least 90% from the VA. Now, the question I have is how they figure out and what type of retirement am I looking at.

Fact’s

Disability combat service connected

VA rating of 90-100%

Army 70%+

Time in service 13-14 years by time is done

Rank E-6

2 deployments: Iraq

Thanks for any input, Dtripp83

Be very proactive with your process, don't assume that someone is handling your meb correctly. You will find plenty of info and help on this website. It seems LOD's (line of duty) are very important in the guard. Do you have any LOD's?

Assuming you are found unfit and rated at least 30% disabled (which, from what you have written is the likely case), then you will be retired for disability under Title 10 USC Chapter 61. Not sure if you had other questions or what you mean by "type of retirement."

The issue here is whether your military conditions that form the basis for your retirement are combat related. If so, you would most likely qualify for Combat Related Special Compensation (CRSC). You have to apply for this benefit.

VA rating of 90-100%
This indicates a high level of disability.

Army 70%+
This indicates a retirement finding.

This impacts your final pay/compensation calculation. Not sure if you are referencing total active federal service, or if there is Guard/Reserve time included in this. In any event, there are probably a thousand or more posts on pay calculations that you can find via the search function on this forum. Can't plug in the numbers and do the calculations for you without knowing the actual figures.

Hope all goes well for you. Best of luck!

Yes an LOD was done.

The 13 - 14 years was total time. Most of which is going to me Guard time. 3 to 3.5 is going to be active.

I will try using the search on this form thanks.
