NARSUM/MEB/CLARIFICATION

Good afternoon everyone,

A little bit about me before I ask for some guidance. I have been in the Air Force for 10 years and am an E-6. I was referred to the MEB in September and was coded 37 in October. I just filled out my VA claims with the MSC and asked my peblo today for my Narsum. Upon receiving my narsum, I noticed some harsh/glaring comments that paint me to be a bad person. I was referred to the MEB for PTSD, Social Anxiety, and Unspecified Bipolar. Additionally, I have taken a psych test around sometime in September that came back invalid. On the narsum, it writes about overrating/stating my symptoms and possible malingering. The problem is prior to me taking the psych test, I was not completely forth coming with my symptoms and experiences because I was fearful of my career. When things started getting worse, I decided to open up and be truthful. The doctor wrote about "a cry for help" and that does not necessarily mean someone is overstating their symptoms or malingering. The problem I have is the doctor states my PTSD is NILOD (not in trouble) and my Unspecified Bipolar is NILOD with pt reporting a diagnosis of bipolar at 6 y/o. I did not know I was diagnosed with anything until 2013 while I was in the military going through mental health treatment and my mother disclosed to me that I was diagnosed with "Manic Depression". I reported what I was told and informed of by my mother who stopped me from getting any type of help for the fear of ruining my adult life. So, I received all my diagnosis in the military. With my doctor stating NILOD, does that mean I am shafted and I will be left without anything? Does this mean that a 10 year career as an E-6 promotable to E-7 is down the drain? Or is there any sort of hope for me?

Any information would be awesome.

Thanks.

All your referred conditions fall under the eight year rule so anything pre-existing the military owns now. Dont ever, ever take a psych eval they are just used to paint you as a liar most likely your GAF score was high casting suspicion on your self reports this will follow you with your VA MH re-exams and your TDRL exam down the road so keep that in mind. Your VA exams are going to be scheduled soon they need to go well dont understate or overstate things, best wishes.

Thank you for the clarification/reply. I unfortunately had to take the Psych eval per request from my treating doctor. I wish I would have known that the test paints people who are truly struggling in a bad light. I have request a conversation with my treating doc to review the notes entered into my Narsum and ask why its' reported the way it is. I also trusted my doctor by opening up with truthful details about symptoms and feelings. The Narsum puts me on the defensive and makes me feel like I should not have even gone to MH in the first place.
