My Services Ineptness

The PDBR finished my board in mid March and forwarded it to the U.S. Coast Guard. The Coast Guard cannot figure out what to do now. I have spoken to them twice and they told me they have not figured out what to do with the USAF's recommendation.

They won't even tell me what the USAF recommended for me. I was told, I can't tell you because I do not want you to get your hopes up.

What kind of CRAP is that?

I have waited 16 months and now my own service is jerking me around. I understand the PDBR wait with it being new, PCS transfers, record gathering and so forth but to have the

U.S. Coast Guard just slap me around is beyond the pale. I am ticked. I thought according to the instruction DOD 6044 that they have 10 days to notify me? If the USCG can't do the right thing maybe they should quit calling themselves a branch of the military.

Dude, I feel your pain man!! It's hard to wait so long and then get the run-around at the last step. Keep the pressure on them!! get your Congress-person involved if need be. Your probably one of the first if not THE first in the Coast Guard to get a decision from the PDBR. Let them know what the regs are that govern this thing. I hope it all works out in your favor man.

Thanks Kevin,

The USCG told me that they visited the PDBR 2 weeks ago. Only 3 USCG people have their boards back with recommendations and they are sitting on 1 persons desk. Only 4 have applied to the PDBR. Maybe i should email this person a copy of DOD 6040.44? The PDBR instruction. I did contact one of my Senators and his staff was helpful but the person who was working with me moved on to another job and the new person isn't up to par, IMHO. If they do hose me I am definitely going to file a lawsuit in federal court.

I found out today that the PDBR recommended me for retirement. The USCG is now forwarding all of the PDBR boards to USCG HQS for their part. They did not know about the PDBR DOD 6040.44 Instruction but i told them about it and them having 45 days to render a decision and 10 days to notify the CI. I believe they intend to accept the USAF's recommendations. Finally, light is appearing at the end of the tunnel.
