Yes, the PEBLOS at FLW say that they lost about 30 physicians in June.

I feel your pain. I have two herniated discs, had two back surgeries and got 40% from the VA, but was deployed to Afghanistan for 9-months and I had more problems develop. I had a neurostimulator implant put in to help with the sciatic nerve pain and it really doesn't provide much pain relief like it used to.Leaders,
It simply amazes me that after 23 years of service, the Army is using an MEB on me for an injury they failed to treat, except with narcotics, for almost 7 years. Years ago, in 2002, they found two herniated disc and said take Motrin and stop doing sit-ups. They gave me a P2 and made sure II could still ruck and run to deploy as needed. Okay, so I kept on being HooaahH, maxing my run and smoking 19 year-olds in PT.
Nevertheless, as life would have it, in 2009, my back got worse and there were some neurological problems requiring my use of slow release morphine for the last 6 months. Then, I go and see my new PCM for a med-refill and he says, “SGM, you’re getting a P3 and referral to the MEB.”
No vote in the process. Now I am told by the PEBLO that since I did such a wonderful job for the Army and my Soldiers of working through the pain and making it to retirement, the Army will find me fit for duty and have me back in PT formation in a matter of months. They have gotta be kidding! I cannot wear body armor and pop MSCONTIN twice a day to maintain a low-level of throbbing pain. The Army refuses to do surgery, because the docs at Landstuhl say it is a neurological problem…so go see pain management. Hello…isn’t that the type of problem disc replacement is supposed to alleviate.
Anywhoo…after now embarking on this process I wondered why in the heck I did not get this fixed a long time ago. The SGM Mafia is unsympathetic to injured SGMs who are as dirt in the cogs of the promotion and assignments machine.
If this process has done anything is to teach me that the Army does not really care about Soldier health, they care about Soldier readiness. We, as leaders and as Soldiers, must take care of ourselves.
If not, you will be like this SGM…only months away from retirement strung out on Morphine and having a lousy quality of life.
True wisdom comes from a combination of experience and knowledge…learn from my mistakes and take care of yourself.
