Has anyone gotten 100% Total and Permanent without opting for Shunt Surgery? I am asking because at this stage a shunt surgery seems too risky of further complications, but I am also worried about not getting Rated as permanent.

Is the Meniere's the only condition that you claimed?

No, still undergoing MEB for Ménière’s and related migraines, hernia mesh repair before military service. For va I have been diagnosed for major depressive disorder And anxiety as well as sleep apnea.

On the NARSUM was the Ménière’s and Migraines as well as the hernia as unfitting.

The DOD will not give you a P&T rating, that comes from the VA. So your going to have to do some VA math with all of the DBQ results and CFR's to determine your total percentage.

Below is the CFR for Menieres

Note: Evaluate Meniere's syndrome either under these criteria or by separately evaluating vertigo (as a peripheral vestibular disorder), hearing impairment, and tinnitus, whichever method results in a higher overall evaluation. But do not combine an evaluation for hearing impairment, tinnitus, or vertigo with an evaluation under diagnostic code 6205
6205 Meniere's syndrome (endolymphatic hydrops):
Hearing impairment with attacks of vertigo and cerebellar gait occurring more than once weekly, with or without tinnitus100
Hearing impairment with attacks of vertigo and cerebellar gait occurring from one to four times a month, with or without tinnitus60
Hearing impairment with vertigo less than once a month, with or without tinnitus30

CFR for Hernia

7338 Hernia, inguinal:
Large, postoperative, recurrent, not well supported under ordinary conditions and not readily reducible, when considered inoperable60
Small, postoperative recurrent, or unoperated irremediable, not well supported by truss, or not readily reducible30
Postoperative recurrent, readily reducible and well supported by truss or belt10

Worst case scenario based upon limited information is 80% with the possibility of IU. Best case scenario is 90% with IU.

I am 100% Total and Permanent from the VA for Meniere's. No surgery! I take Meclizine 25 mg twice a day and 1/2 tab of Triamterene HCTZ 75 mg. I still get dizzy but its tolerable.

I will do the same. Although I may only have a few entries. Did you get the Cerebellar gait Standby in your medical records before the C&p? I only have statement from my doc saying that I have an ataxic gait and that I stagger and beer to the left and flight side during attacks.

I just received my ratings yesterday, and I'm 100% P&T for meniere's. I had to search all over to find the P&T, but I got it. Pretty much same as Fread, dyazide daily and meclizine as needed. Make sure they document the cerebellar gait. Describe your episodes in dramatic detail to make sure they understand how severe they can be. Good luck!

Hey Greg,
Congrats man! Did you directly mention Cerebellar gait to the doc or did you describe it?

I just described it and mentioned my regular MD and ear MD both had a name for it. He said cerebellar and I agreed. I would have said it if he didn't. I didn't want to seem too eager or pushy about meeting all of the criteria.

Thanks for letting me know! I have my appointment on Thursday. Hopefully all goes well and the doc check the right boxes and asks the right questions!
