It would be devastating to know that after you've served the country you'll not be qualified for a much needed benefits. Hope your problem regarding Medicare gets resolved soon.
Medicare part B nightmare

UPDATE;
Called DEERS talked to a rep. who started a "customer care case".
Should take a couple months, but this is good news.
My case is like one out of thousands, very specific and there must be recourse, some kind of paperwork trail.
Seems I'm on the right path now.
To those just getting out, understand this: The Veterans Hospitals are NOT considered health insurance. The only way they will look after your family for free is if you are 100 percent through them. Lets say you have 100 percent, then your condition gets better. The VA will reevaluate you at a lower rate, stripping the "free" part of the VA.
So, If you are getting SSDI, or SSI through the social security office, after 2 years they will ask you if you want part B: if you say no, you are at risk of loosing Tricare premium services for the service member, your family can be on Prime, but not you.
Also, no one in the world knows your case better than you. When someone says no, that's not necessarily the end, do research.
I will keep up on this thread until a solution is reached.

Thank you, I'm not giving up. I have only just begun.
I am fighting on multiple fronts here to fix the damage done by my original PEB.
This is a very much needed benefits, and is the sole reason i sent a package to the PDBR.

My congressman's' office has taken my case and is working with their liaisons in medicare to resolve this issue.
I am being told that if I was to get medicare part b, I will be required to pay either the dues for the last eight years (about $16,000) or I will be penalized 10 percent for each year I was eligible, so 80 percent more.

Wow! I hope the congressman's office is able to successful resolve your Medicare Part B situation! Not good; not good, indeed!
Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Update: Thanks to congressional pressure, never giving up, and a very strong will; I have medicare part b, no penalties, and the full benefits that come with being a retired service member, including Tricare prime for both my wife and I , plus delta dental.
Just wanted to update this post, and to give others a sense that the battle is well worth it.
