Medboard referral

I'm in the active Army for 6 years. 2 years I started getting weird symptoms, went to doctor and was diagnosed by Navy neurologist with multiple sclerosis. I never got profile because PA on my base never thought it affected me that much. And it really didn't affected me that much besides couple ER visit first months when I had no clue what's going on. 6 months ago I was in Fort Polk with my unit and my symptoms got really bad. My PCM referred me to navy hospital in Maryland where I go monthly and Navy doc recommended medboard based on my conditions. I finally got temp profile from my PCM but he just sent me to chief of out medical facility who apparently makes final decision on medboard referral. Medical facility chief sent me to see two different neurologists for second opinion, expanded my temp profile and after second opinion doesn't really say anything and wants to see me again once a month. My ETS is September 2018.

What are my options now? Originally I wanted to do my preseparation physical 180 days prior and apply for VA ratings. Should I still do it in March if I don't get medboard referral? If I apply for VA benefits 6 months prior to ETS and then referred to MEB will it effect the process of medboard?

I understand I can't really do much about it because other people in my unit that chielf of medical facility has final word. My conditions getting worse and I will be getting out. I just can't deal with it on day to day basis. Should I go to ER daily if I have symptoms?

thanks

Dude that’s bullshit.

Hope it’s not MS- that’s what my medboard is currently for. Tell your damn doc to write your a referral to an MS specialist to confirm your dx. Have you had an MRI or a spinal tap? If not, you need one or both to diagnosis. If it is MS, it is important you get treatment because time=more damage to your brain/spinal cord without treatment.

If you have MS you need to be medboarded so you can have the Medical retirement (MS is a minimum 30%), that way you can have Tricare. MS drugs are around 80k/year.. don’t let your docs push you around.

It must be MS. I was diagnosed with it and it's in my records for last 2 years. Unless doctors are wrong and it all comes from nowhere. I get treatment. I do MRI every 6 months and spinal tap once. I'm on copaxone daily injections right now plus using catheters every time need to use the bathroom. I should got some sort of profile earlier but my symptoms weren't as bad and didn't affect me much.

I'm surprised you are not on a profile. MS is a disqualifying condition. You need good legal advice. Separation without a MEB would be a disservice to yourself.
