MEB VA Rating delay

Does anyone on here have any insight on how to get Seattle WA to move a little faster? First off after returning from Afghanistan with combat related injuries incurred from IDF My PA blocked three different Specialists recommendations for an MEB. I was told excuses like I had less than 6 months left till I ETS and the like, I was not educated on the MEB process and regulations so took some of these so called professionals word for it.

I'm not gonna cry the blues as there are Soldiers injured much worse than myself so to make a long story short.....

After getting educated on the MEB stuff I contacted JAG, The Wounded Warrior Project, Congress, and the local News Agencies and spelled out my situation. After much spotlight focusing in on Division, the day I was to ETS I was reinstated to be MED Boarded. The first part of the process literally went flawless and quick being completed in a months time including my appeal to have the DOD side cover my PTSD which was granted without any issues. Unfit memo in hand with all V-4 ratings.

04 MAY 2014 the VA in Seattle WA received my envelope, since then my AKO dashboard has been worthless.

E-benifts site was no better if not worse. E-benifits site claimed that they were still gathering evidence and that they were missing documents. I called Seattle WA VA hotline in Mid June and was told that no documents were missing they have everything they needed and was in the process of review. The VA rep admitted that the E-benifits site is mostly inaccurate. ( so why do they spend money on something that doesn't work or fail to fix the issue with it? ). I immediately call my VA MSC and she also verified nothing was missing and it is in review and no idea when that will be complete..

Now Ive been away from my Wife and Children way to long as they are not station with me. My wife is holding a full time job, taking care of the house and kids and the youngest is 2 years old. She has too much stress to deal with with out me this long. There has to be a way to get these VA workers on the ball and accountable for for doing their jobs. Also the VA's progress should be much more transparent to the service member, It was Us who sacrificed and to not get clear answers that pertain to us is not a violation of any law known. I consider this Disrespect.

Any help or insight would be tremendously appreciated

You are close to my timeline. I had my Unfit memo on 7 May, got my ratings complete on 26 JUN and received DA 199 on 9 JUL. My ratings were done in Seattle. With that, I would believe you should be complete any day. Best of luck and I hope you get your ratings quick. Seattle has gotten much faster.................................

@ Sioux565, Thanks for the reply, I know there Isnt much at this point to do or can do to Speed up the VA. But Ill keep trying anything to see if i find that golden ticket. Had to vent my frustration as Ive caled the VA on 2 other occasions prior to yesterday with the same result.

It sucks hearing your wife day in and day out constantly telling you that you need to be home because shes overwhelmed with everything at home alone for so long. Its a pretty helpless feeling being on this end and being reminded that all there is to do is wait on the VA.

It took me 4.5 years to get through the MEB/PEB (JBLM/VA Seattle). There is no real way to make the process take place any more quickly.

My recommendation is to be patient, review each step of the process for accuracy, benchmark each step vs others in a similar situation and do not let yourself get taken advantage of.

The command at JBLM has been proven time and time again to not have the best interests of servicemembers and have broken many laws attempting to delay or deny benefits.

i too have been chomping at the bit. To me there is no rhyme or reason on how these ratings get done. i agree with Sioux. Seattle has really speeded things up as of late. I have been tracking the the case timelines for a few months. There are a few who have been rated in as little as 45 days and others that have taken forever.

The average seems to be 92 days. i spoke to my MSC today, and he tells me that the current average in his system is 94 days (up from 85 days last week).

i wish you the best,
Green

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Hmm, there's not much more to mention then what has already been previously stated above unfortunately! :(

Nonetheless, please remain strong and stay focus on the "big" picture of potential outcomes while in the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process. Take care and continue to enjoy life!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

302 days waiting for the VA. The entire process has been 399 days so far. There is no constant flow up there. BE PATIENT! I know, how can you be? Do yourself a favor and try to keep your mind focused on the end result or you'lll drive yourself crazy.
