MEB Referred

Good morning,

I was completely blind sided by this and have read a bunch of forums / articles.

I found out by looking at my Profile a couple days ago, that my Profile went from TEMP to Permanent (P3) for Depressive Disorder. (28FEB2022) Has both signatures. Down below it said I was referred to the MEB.

I was not seeking this nor have I talked to anyone about getting a Permanent Profile or MEB. It has been over a year for Temporary Profile, which I believe I read triggers MEB.
I have had depression for awhile and been on a roulette of meds for years, nothings changed. My performance in the reserves though, would not show that, if the commander were asked. I do what I have to do to, so I can support my family.

Background info if it helps

15 years total ( 8 Active ) 7 Reservist (Almost 6 as a TECH / GS Employee)

Have been rated VA since early 2014 Leaving Active Duty ( Including the Major Depressive Disorder) Documented while on Active Duty

I was not planning on getting out of the Army, but at the same time I am only drilling because I am A GS employee with a condition of employment to be a TPU.

Does anyone know what I should expect? Generally speaking of course. I have not been contacted by anyone and besides the P3 Profile, not other information is available that I can find. I know Army Reservists will probably be drastically different than an Active counterpart. My theory is I probably will be returned Fit for Duty, any info helps.

Thank You

Good morning,
If you can't deploy or mobilize due to the meds you are on, it is my understanding that you will be medboarded ( year on temp profile). Just my two cents, but if you can't do your job ( deploy to a A.O.) when asked, there really isn't a reason to retain.

On the Profile it does state the Cannot live in Austere Environment / No weapons ETC. Deployment Limitations

Yes, I had the same thing and that meant I was useless for my MOS. Hard truth, but time to accept it. But like I said, do everything you can to fight for what you want.

You can always appeal the decision if it isn't what you want
I am not against the MEB so to say. I was completely blind sided by it. I have a federal job that requires me to be in the reserves. If I was to medically retire, I could keep it. Which is the goal, either outcome. I am not sure the MEB will result in discharge because if you asked anyone at the unit (Leadership) I do not show that I am (Unfit) for duty.

If your title 32, then if you MEB from the reserves, your entitled to FERS disability retirement from the tech program, its 60/40 of high 3 pay. And, if you title 5 then you should be able to keep your job. I was a federal tech in the NG and applied for disability retirement. Good luck, hope this helps.

Dumb question. How do you find out what title you are. I have looked and cant seem to find it.

Ok, ask HR if your title 5, if you are then you don’t have to be in that AR to keep your job as title 5.
