First time poster and need some insight on what to expect going forward. I am active duty Air Force and have been in for 12 years. I've suffered from depression over the years and last year, it got the best of me. I self harmed, became an alcoholic, attempted to self delete and was later admitted into an outpatient program through a local mental hospital. The normal duration of being in the program was 6 weeks, I was in it for 6 months. I completed the program and reported back to mental health for further appointments and treatment. I was then informed by my therapist that I was being submitted for med board. My commander recommended 'do not retain' in their impact statement and my comments were that I agreed with the commander. I completed all my VA exams and the results came back that my diagnosis for PTSD and MDD were approved and my PEBLO sent my 618 up to the VA. On the 618, the board recommended to refer to IPEB with the findings that my conditions did not exist prior to service, incurred while I was entitled to basic pay, and was permanently aggravated by service. The following is the next update I received from my PEBLO:
1. IPEB and VA review (8-10 weeks):
- IPEB will do a fit/unfit determination
- VA will complete the ratings
2. Once the IPEB and VA findings are returned:
- You will have 6 calendar days to review the findings and decide if you agree with/accept them. During the 6 days you may contact the Office of Disability Counsel (ODC) to go over your finding with you.
3. Once you accept your findings your orders will be processed (1-2 weeks):
I also received an email from MyFSS on 5 August that my PEBLO submitted my MEB to the Air Force Personnel Center Physical Disability Operations Branch.
From this point on, what was your experience on timelines? What was your rating (My C&P Exam resulted in "Occupational and social impairment, with deficiencies in most areas.") I want to get out so I am hoping for an unfit decision but also want advice on what to expect with these results. Sorry for the lengthy post and I appreciate any feedback I get for this. Thank you.
