MEB, PEB, IDES, Impact Statement etc.

Hello everyone.

Im an airman currently in a code 37. I was placed in a code 37 approximately July 31, my official MEB 469 was input August 5th. So about 2 months. Ive been dealing with chronic back pain with bulging disks, degenerative changes, etc. i am Security Forces defender and for the past two years I have been on countless profiles and DNA due to mainly gear profiles (no wearing gear), and medications primarily. Ive been in for over 3 years, and my new assignment ive been at for a year is much more high speed and physically demanding which really did a number on my condition.

I have not heard any updates on my case yet. I believe my PCM submitted the NARSUM about a month ago.

I was curious if anybody can give me just a friendly rundown of what the whole process looks like, what to expect, etc.

Ive stayed in contact with my PEBLO and no updates yet. Their prediction is most likely a full MEB.

Additionally, in my commanders impact statement which I believe has been submitted to AFPC already, in the comments i did mention that i respectfully request to be retrained to into a less physically demanding AFSC because i have always been passionate about serving and feel maybe i coukd excel in a different career. My commander recommended “do not retain”, which at the end of the day I know he is looking out for my wellbeing and its in the best interest for my medical conditions. I was upset initially but with how bad my pain and function is, i do think the full MEB is the best option all things considered. I was curious if the request would still be taken into consideration as well.

Any and all advice is appreciated
