MEB for PTSD at Fort Jackson

im currently in the meb process doing exams and i have only 1 left thats for vision. I have looked over all the C&P exams and have no idea what they mean, Where am i in the process and what average timeline should i look at for possibly moving my family early and applying for jobs?

- Any help is greatly appreciated

I would wait to apply for jobs or make any permanent plans until you receive your retirement orders. Too many people here start the process too early and it creates issues because they have a job lined up that they can't make the timeline work. Also, when you start too early you put yourself in a conflict of interest. That is because you start making plans and then when your NARSUM isn't correct. you don't want to delay to appeal it because it will keep you in longer. Same for requesting a FPEB and or a VARR. Better to wait until you have retirement orders in hand to make any firm plans.

Also, I didn't even answer timeline. That is because there isn't a reliable one. My wife was 14 months. I have seen others 5 months. Each case is different and each step in the process can take different times. Also, a lot of it can change based on if you need to appeal anything and if so how many more appeals are needed to get you the best results. You don't want to hurry up the process. You don't want to be the person who comes back here 5 years from now asking how to get something changed via ABCMR because you were in a hurry and concurred at each step so that you would get out sooner. SPOILER: If you didn't challenge anything during the process you have a slim to none chance of the board of corrections and reviews to rule in your favor if you didn't raise any appeals or objections during this process the first time.

Recieved notification my FPEB is 24SEP2024 so date is approaching and still have no solid answer from BUPERS, PERS 9 if they are going to follow DOD INST 1332.18 VOl 1, Page 39, Table 2 which states Navy personnel are to be authorized 26 days for administrative seperation, NOT INCLUDING - ACCRUED LEAVE aka 60 days TERMINAL LEAVE and 20 days PTDY. Every Navy disability retirement should have baked into the orders 106 days for those three events: 60 days Terminal leave, 20 days PTDY and 26 days Administrative Separation. If the Service Member does not take all 60 days terminal leave then he transitions a little faster than others. However, for BUPERS to only give Navy personnel 26 days is UNSAT which is the initial response. Some key instructions to know:
DOD Instruction 1332.18 Volume 1, Page 39, Table 2
OPNAVINST 1900.2B TAMP, states COs Shall authorize members 30 days leave and/or 20 days PTDY.
MILPERSMAN 1330-220 PTDY states personnel assigned to PDRL/TDRL are authorized 20 days PTDY
MILPERSMAN 1010-050 Leave Policy Section 14 lists special circumstances for max leave and special emphasis which include: Retirement, medical hardship, aka all the things you are dealing with during a disability retirement... Those references will hopefully help some of you struggling with BUPERS and your COMMANDS who are telling you to burn you leave to "0" and are not authorizing you to take terminal leave per the instruction guidance.

When you call PERS 9 they will say the instruction says only 26 days! Than is a 1/2 truth it does say that but goes on to say NOT INCLUDING accrued leave and PTDY which are supposed to be in addition so you should get 106 days to transition not 26 days!!!!

For my C&P DBQs I used ChatGPT to compare it to the V.As rating criteria 38CFR Book C. Just make sure you don't put any sensitive information and it can give you a ball park idea of what your rating aligns closest with.
